Apples and Oranges, two completely different classes of cruising and priced accordingly.

Well best is subjective. Regent is a very, very good cruise line. And if they are offering an itinerary that is in your price range, I don't think you'd be disappointed. You'd probably get a better answer about Regent though if you asked on the Regent board rather than Princess. They really are a very different product.

There is no comparison between Regent and Princess. Regent is an all inclusive luxury cruise line. Princess is a main stream cruise line. Both are good. It's what you want to pay for that counts.

We sailed on Regent's Paul Gauguin to Tahiti in a suite with butler service. It was heavenly but we paid four times what Princess would have cost. Well maybe 3 times. Our one Princess cruise was in a mini suite and we enjoyed it too.

Bottom line is you get what you pay for.

Default No more formal nights

Regent just did away with any dining nights that require jackets. All cruises of 15 days or less is now elegant casual.

Honestly, and, we have sailed most of them. You really get MORE than your monies worth on Princess.

Regent and Crystal and the like are truly special. The service, the really "all inclusive" feeling, the ships decor and the overall ambiance of the ships are fabulous. But, the price reflects it.

The decision is yours. If you can find the itinerary on Princess, go with it.

We like Princess very much for all the reasons that we love the others except the price does not dip into our pockets quite as deeply. And, we can afford to cruise more often with them.

On our recent cruise, we had to chose between Regent and Princess for Tahiti. Although Regent does have some great specials, we found that we could book an Owner's Suite with Princess for combined 11 and 10 day cruises, for the price of a balcony cabin only on Regent. The smaller ships on Princess have fantastic service and wonderful food, and absolutely fabulous full suites. So, if price is any consideration, I would look closely at both and decide for yourself which would be better suited to your personal likes and dislikes. The smaller ships on Princess are totally different then the mega monsters, and we feel are a step above the mass marketed larger ships in the fleet. Best of luck with whichever you decide to sail with!

We have been on 1 Regent Seven seas cruise and 6 Princess cruises and prefer Princess. I don't remember which REgent ship we were on, but it was small. We found the Princess mini-suites to be larger than the equivalent on Regent. Our Regent ship also had very few places to sit on sea days. Maybe it was the ship and maybe we are the exception, but we prefer Princess. Again, as has been said before, what one likes and the reasons we like it are subjective and relative.
