Default Southampton Sailaway - where should visitors park?

Hi,

We're sailing from Southampton on the 11th November and our son would like to come and see us sail away. He's moving down to Southampton this weekend to start a new job, so none of us know the area. He's also disabled and has a blue badge, so he'd like to park as close to the ship as possible. Does anybody know where he should go? Is there blue badge parking close to the Ocean Terminal. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sue

Either Town Quay or Mayflower Park are probably the best places to park

There is blue badge parking (short stay) at Ocean Terminal. I say blue badge, but I am not sure exactly what that means - there are disabled spots marked out in the car park...

However, I am not sure if you still have to pay even though he has a badge as it's within the barriers of the short stay carpark (on the right as you pull upto the terminal - someone will direct him to the carpark) - maybe ask in the terminal if its free (it's free if you are less than 30mins I think)

There is a lift in the Ocean Terminal building too if he wants to stay in the departure area with you before you get called to check-in - good close up view of the ship from there

You will get a great view from there, also a lot of people came on departure, went along to the end and people were calling down to them, it was so close, not sure if you park there or not, but you can park at the town quay , if your lucky park at the italian restuarant and walk, maybe 10 mins walk, depends how far he can walk, maybe a 5 mins taxi ride to the terminal.
