Default Just received cabin assignment for Nov 01, 2009 sailing - What are my options?

I just received cabin assignment for our Nov 01, 2009 sailing on the Caribbean Princess. We booked a GTY BD category cabin, and just got upgraded to a BA but it is a handicap cabin C302. Not sure if I am happy with this assignment. I do not feel we should be in a cabin that is meant for people with disabilities when neither my husband or I are disabled. Not sure how this guarantee assignment works, and if we should call Princess to see if we have to accept this assignment, or if they would have anything else available that is not a handicap cabin? We sail this Sunday so not much time to be looking for another cabin?

Gee - I'm on this Sunday's sailing too. You are lucky to get a handicapped cabin! Don't feel guilty, they reserve these for the last and if no-one requests them then they are given out to the GTY folks. We had a handicapped cabin on our first cruise and loved all the room. You will have so much more room in the shower. I would be happy to trade places with you! Oh we are just down the hall I think - C317.

On our recent cruise on Crown Princess we took a balcony guarantee. We were assigned a cabin on Aloha deck which was directlly under the pool area. We advised our TA to contact Princess and advise them this was not acceptable. We were then assigned a cabin on Caribe deck which was great. If you are unhappy about your assignment by all means let Princess know. Good luck !

We were moved into a handicap cabin a few years ago with a guarentee booking. There was a lot of extra space that was very nice. Your handicap cabin was probably going empty so don't worry about that aspect. C302 is in a pretty good location. I'd relax and enjoy the extra space.

You should not feel guilty. The cabin has not been taken as an accessible cabin and therefore Princess have chosen to allocate you to a much larger cabin than you would normally receive. Enjoy it. We are in the same cabin on the Star in December (with a wheelchair) and they are great cabins!

I can't remember if you're on the 7 or the 14-day cruise, but if it's the 14, and you're unhappy with that room, we'll be happy to trade you when we get on, on the 8th
And as the others said, if the room was needed, it would have been assigned. That's why you got it now, not sooner. Lucky you!

First of all....thank you for your concern about being assigned a HC cabin. I agree with the others. It was assigned to you because it was not needed by a handicapped person and is assigned to able bodied cruisers who book guarantees.

To be sure, you can go to the pursers desk after embarkation and tell them you are booked in a HC cabin and are not in need of it and will switch to a regular room if someone does happen to need it.

Have a great trip.
