Default Sunset Veranda on the Solstice

Has anyone stayed in a sunset veranda on the Solstice. Are they as good as the regular verandas - better? Any one have any pictures? We are looking at cruising in Dec and this is one of the rooms available. As always, thanks for your help.

Hopefully someone has stayed in one of the AFT cabins on the Solstice and can give me some info, I have to make a decision today. Thanks for your suggestions.

I was in one on the Equinox recently (cabin 8338) . We have been in aft cabins numerous times. What we like, in addition to watching the wake, is that aft balconies are more sheltered from the wind. One issue though. Compared to the Millennium class ships, these ships only have 2 sets of elevators and stairs. So you will do some extra walking to just go and get an ice tea from the buffet.

Rent a travel scooter for your wife. I've found that for me, with walking problems, those scooters come in handy for those long walks on the ship.

I have stayed in sunset veranda twice. We like them very much. The verandas are a standard size, not larger like they are on the M-class ships. But we enjoy the rear of the ship and watching the wake. It is a long way to the nearest set of elevators so it would be a good walk for your wife.

Consider one of the "hump" cabins (they are the angled cabins kind of mid ship). All of those that appear on an angle have bigger balconies.

Here are a couple of photos. One if of the aft balconies from above. The other is of the angled hump cabins. You can see by looking under the balconies which are the biggest. You can also see their relationship to the middle of flat part of the hump. Oops...wouldn't let me upload the hump cabins. I'll try to do that in a separate post.

Sorry but it's not letting me upload. Try this link to my shutterfly album from Solstice: http://solsticepreinauguarlnov12142008.shutterfly.com/ The Hump Cabins are those to the right of the X on the side of the balconies. Hope you can see them.

Host Anne - I haven't been able to upload a PDF file I'd uploaded in the past. Tried the past week and haven't made it. Thought it was on my side of the firewall, but I guess not.

May not be related, but I tried after the fixed that problem with not being able to see recent posts, can now, but haven't been able to upload since. Probably not related, but have had upload problems since at least this weekend for sure. Last successful upload was 16 Oct.

Denny

iriemon ~ glad the photos were helpful. Please let us know what you decide!!!

Denny ~ the strange thing is that it let me upload the first photo without a problem, but not the second. It could have been bigger in size (I didn't go back and look). I haven't uploaded much so I couldn't give you any advice but if you want some help, email community@cruisecritic.com with your info on the pdf and see if they can assist!

Happy cruising to all!
