Default Where Would You Cruise For a Special Anniversary Celebration

We're planning a special anniversary celebration and can't decide where to go. I've been looking at different itineries for the spring and next fall. One or two go to Rome, Athens, Greek Isles, and then end with a TA back to Ft. Lauderdale. One goes to Israel, Turkey, Egypt, Athens, etc. One is on Azamara and the rest on HAL. I guess what I'm asking is what was your best cruise destination and why? Also, not looking to do more than 20 days unless it's the TA. As you can see from my signature, we've done the Caribbean, Panama Canal, ALaska and don't want to repeat those. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks.

Best cruise ever was a B2B starting with a TA from NYC to Dover and then a two week Baltic cruise. We were the first ship in all of the ports and were warmly welcomed everywhere and we had great luck with the weather.

The only thing I would change would be the TA: it's much better after a port intensive cruise than before.

We had that same question a few months ago when we were looking to book for our 20th anniversary. We had originally looked at the Baltics but due to a great price, we chose a 12 day Mediterranean (on NCL). It leaves Barcelona to Rome, Athens, Egypt, Malta and Turkey. Overall it was the suite and price that finally sealed the deal for us.
I know this doesn't answer your question but look at multiple options and figure out what works best for your interests (ports of call, excursions, ect).
Congratulations and Happy Searching.

It may be because I am European but for me the best cruise itinerary is the Med and/or Greek Islands. Sailing into Venice was one of the best things ever. I am a seasoned cruiser and have sailed all around the caribbean, Panama Canal, Australia to New Zealand, South America, Amazon and still love the Med best. Hope this helps you!

Last year for our 50th anniversary we booked on the Eurodam the 10 day Baltic beginning and ending in Copenhagen with the 15 day T/A beginning in Copenhagen and ending in New York City. It was sold for a very short time as one cruise entitled Voyage of the Vikings and at a greatly reduced rate. Wonderful itinerary and scenery, very port intensive, three sea days after Iceland were necessary. Our anniversary is in August and the weather was very good. A little cool for 2 Arizonans ( mostly in the mid to high 60's) but little wind and only 1 day of rain.

Enjoy whatever you chose for your special time. Jane & Gary.

I would do the Med Cruise, finishing with a TA to Fort Lauderdale...I think that's what RuthC, Adele, RevNeal et al are doing now on the Rotterdam.

Carol,

I just found the perfect cruise for you since I know the Noordam is your favorite ship and I checked...your favorite stateroom IS AVAILABLE! It's the 16 day Mediterranean Farewell on October 18. I think you and Sam should do this one...perfect for you!

Hmmmmm...it's very tempting....if the airfare is not outrageous, I may switch out from the Bermuda cruise to this one!

\My only problem is that it conflicts with Halloween. That's huge here...quite a display across the street from us, and all our grandkids come by. At least we'd be back by Benjamin's 3rd birthday!

Default If We Had The Time and Money

Kween Karen's cruise sounds like the dream cruise we would like to take no matter what we were celebrating. Perhaps a segment at least...

I know, no help here, sorry but for a "special anniversary" the South Pacific and, specifically, French Polynesia (Tahiti, Moorea, Bora Bora, Nuku Hiva, Raiatea, etc) sounds like a great place to go

We sailed Athens ending in Rotterdam 12 days to celebrate our 30th Anniversary years ago. Stops in Rome, Naples, Gibralta, Dover and who remembers where else. It was outstanding.

Our 25th Anniversary, we sailed our of Copenhagen ending in Rome. Realy great cruise and wonderful memories.

We just celebrated our 40th Anniversary and were thrilled to once again do what is one of our big favorite itineraries: Canada/New England. We positively love being on Maasdam doing that cruise.

I agree with those who mentioned South Pacific especially French Polynesia. Can there be anything more romantic than that area?

I'd vote for the Med...we were there (not for an anniversary) on the Westerdam--and I'd go back in a heart beat. In fact, I am lobbying for a Med that starts/ends in Venice...but our anniversary date is 12/31...no no HAL ships still there...I said I'd be okay going early/late to celebrate!!

South Pacific is great, too, especially if you want to "swim". I do think either of these choices would be "busy"--esp. the Med...

My vote is for a Med cruise and possibly a B2B TA. Lots of planning required in many European ports. Our favorite was Istanbul where we stayed a week prior to boarding the RCCL Brilliance. Venice, Dubrovnik, Santorini, Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Amalfi Coast (Naples), Villefranche were all fantastic. Last year we stayed 4 nights in Rome at the Albergo del Senato next to the Pantheon and enjoyed our time in Rome. Cruises involving Egypt/Israel really require tremendous planning and additional expenses........Europe is truly a fantastic experience....the Duomo in Florence, the Vatican, David, the ruins at Ephesus, the Spanish Steps, Trevi, the outdoor market in Nice, the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, Positano, the Jewish Ghetto in Venice, the battle of the orchestras in St. Mark's, sunset in Oia on Santorini, gelatto....the list is endless.....Marty
