Default Ship's Wake Photos

I've taken various pics of a ship's wake over the years. Can be quite spectacular in rough seas, too.

I shot this pic as we were leaving Mobile bay last week of the wake left by the Carnival Holiday in pretty calm waters. I thought the 'lines' left by the wake were pretty unique. You can't see this in rough waters.

I've had lots of aft cabins. My first was on Grandeur of the Seas when I found out one of the benefits of aft cabins on Western Itineraries is a great sunset you get on your balcony sailing back to the Straits of Florida... along with the wake.

Nice photos folks. Wakes are interesting at night too. Off the rear of the Oosterdam some place in the Pacific.

My husband thought I was going to fall overboard when I was taking this one, but I thought it was an interesting perspective!

Here is Olympia Voyager, Trans-Atlantic in 2003 at 28 knots cruising speed, putting
up a roostertail. She is/was capable of over 35knots full out. 25,000 GRT, 800 pax.
Too bad she didn't make it for Royal Olympia.

One fantastic picture, you can't really appreciate it till you've sailed on the STERN, there's no finer place to be!
(but, don't tell everybody, they'll all want to book it!)

Hmmm...taking photos of ships' wakes. Seems silly...who would do that?! I mean, who wants to see a ship wake? What kind of person would take photos of that, especially more than once!?

(Give me another day to get my photos from my Nov 1-11 cruise uploaded, and I'll have some more wakes to add!).

We had an aft balcony on the Carnival Miracle and enjoyed the blue sea of the carribean in the wake:

WOW, that's an accessory I haven't seen before on a cruise ship! I'd say the Seabourn Spirit is prepared for this trip....plus the helpful escort.

Thanks to the French Navy and Marines we felt very secure crossing the Gulf of Aden in convoy. It certainly was a unique experience, and very enjoyable given the circumstances.

BTW, if you recall, it was Seabourn Spirit that was attacked by pirates in 2005. I don't think anyone was taking any chances this time!
