Default Life Jackets at the Muster Drill

There have been some post going around of cruisers not being required to take thier life jackets to the muster drills lately.

Can anyone confirm or deny this. We are leaving on the GLORY next Satruday and am just curious. Not a big deal either way, just seems like something odd for a cruise ship to do.

Can't speak to the Glory, but they don't make you put on your mask or use your seat cushion as a floatation device during the safety briefing on a plane, right? No big deal, really.

I can confirm that yes that is what some are reporting. Last month we had to take them to the brief on the Holiday but did not put them on.

No lifejackets required on Legend 10/18. When you receive your S&S card at check in, look to see if there is a LETTER A, B, C. That is your Muster Station.

On our recent Splendor cruise we did not take our life jackets to the drill. So consider it confirmed

From all that I have read, no more life jackets, so you don't have to take them back to your cabin, so you can just attend the sail away party! You do still have to attend the muster.

Default Now called safety briefing-no jackets

Destiny Oct 29 now muster called safety briefing and no jackets required.
Great to not carry them around, or go fetch them. I think wise so not as much shared germs, lifejackets stay organized. Muster station on sign n' sail card. I guess we will miss the sea of orange photo op though.

Last week on the Holiday you had to bring them with AND put them on briefly. Actually moot now, since this week is the last cruise for her with Carnival.............

Is the no-lifejacket muster drill really such a great idea? I've dragged them to muster drills for many years, but at least I knew how to put them on, and was told which tabs to pull and where the whistle was. The cruises I go on are at least seven days. The flights I take for cruises are usually under a couple of hours. I take longer flights for other reasons. I do look for the nearest Exit door, and look at the aircraft information. I'm probably one of the few who thinks that lifejackets should be worn during the muster drill, especially if kids are there. Just my thoughts.

We were on Glory 10-17 until 10-24 and we had to bring them to the drill. On the TV it said we didn't, but the CD announced that we had to. This was after others had posted that it wasn't necessary to have them at the drill.

I don't know why the Glory said one thing on TV and another in the announcement. I can only guess the Captain wanted them worn. We all had to go to our muster station as usual. Perhaps, by now, they have changed.

No life jackets on Inspiration 10/24.

Yep, no more having to wrap those skanky, germ infested, things around your body (unless your life depends on it)!

Your life may very well depend on those life jackets. "Germ infested"????? Please explain.

Just a quick question: Are you a boater?

How do you know they are germ-infested?
