Default to an unknown couple from Texas - THANK YOU!

in advance, please excuse this long post, but i feel this is worth posting -

my mother and i just returned from our first Cunard voyage yesterday - she has limited mobility, quite hard of hearing, in her mid eighties - she dearly wanted to sail on a "British" vessel - she considers this her last trip (hopefully not!) - anyways, we had an absolutely lovely week, tiring of course, but every aspect of our holiday from our tablemates to our cabin steward, were most enjoyable! -

then came a "snafoo"! - we boarded our transfer bus without incident and i saw our two pieces of luggage loaded along with her walker - we aren't familiar with LaGuardia and we didn't realize we should have left the bus at the first stop - unbeknownst to us, our two suitcases were left at the curb, unattended and unclaimed - i didn't think the bus driver would leave a stop with unclaimed luggage, but he did - anyways, we got off the bus and the driver left us at the curb with my mother's walker but without any luggage - i frantically searched the lost and founds, walked up and down the terminal inside and out, talked with the Port Authority, without luck - you can imagine how upset my mother was becoming, so we reluctantly checked in and flew home to Toronto -

now, as an end to my rambling, and the whole point to this story, an unknown couple from Texas saw our two suitcases, unclaimed, with Cunard tags, and kindly checked the information and brought them to a ticket agent at American Airlines - this act of kindness saved us from having to track down luggage confiscated by Port Authorities, or perhaps taken from the curb - when i arrived home last night, there were two messages from them, letting me know what they had done - i can't thank them enough! -

we haven't received our luggage yet - it's in transit to us this evening via a private airport services bus - the airline forwarded the suitcases to Toronto on a later flight - an American Airlines staffer cleared them through Customs for me and actually paid some duty for me, and he made the arrangements to have the bags delivered to my door - i received two calls today from lovely staffers at LaGuardia checking up on the situation (before we know the bags were in Toronto) - i can't get over the concern and kindness shown by so many strangers! -

so, i'll end this post now, with a huge THANK YOU to the unknown couple from Texas! - they started this chain of events that has a happy ending - - - there are so many good people in this world! -

With the news full of "bad news" and "worse news" where you begin to question the humanity of our fellow earth passengers, this is a wonderful story to hear. Thank you for sharing it.
