Question Just Curious....

Good morning everyone,

We just returned from Fort Lauderdale (not on a cruise ), and of course we went down to see the cruise ships (and the multi-million dollar yachts as well.)

I was wondering, has anyone worked for RCCL - or any other cruise line for that matter? We'll be moving to FL as soon as our home in Milwaukee sells, (want to move to Milwaukee, I can give you a SWEET deal!) and I would LOVE to work part-time for ANY cruise line. I'm dreaming of a land-based job.. think I'm too old to work on a ship - don't have the energy that all those "kids" seem to have.

But, I can dream, can't I?

Has anyone ever done this? Of course, in this economy, if there are any jobs at all, I realize that hundreds would be applying for them - including almost everyone on this board - am I correct? I guess I'd have to know someone, who knows someone, who knows someone to get hired!

Have a great day all. I'm off to Kroozz-Cams to dream some more. Only 70 more days or so until our next cruise though.....

Lindsay

I´ve not worked for RCCL and don´t know about other cruise lines, but go to rccl´s website and at the bottom there´s a button "Careers" that will bring you to their website for job opportunities with them.

Lindsay - where in Florida are you planning to move to? Carnaval has a sales center in Ft. Pierce and of course all the lines have their terminals at the ports.

A great part time job would be as a pier agent. You only work few days a week and you get to help all the cruisers.

There are always jobs open at PC for the check in counter people. Most don't work directly for the cruise lines. They will be in a different shirt the next day doing the same thing.

Sometimes they get confused about the different rules. Example CCL only allows a 12"X12" cooler while RCCL doesn't care. I get stopped every time about the big cooler. I explain it and no problem. CCL also has a problem with bringing fish hooks in your carry on. The same thing happens.

That would be the perfect job for me, as my forte is customer service

Here's the bad part - Our FL home is in central Florida - about 1 hour from Tampa and 1.5 hours from Port Canaveral. But, I'd be willing to travel!! Think I'll check it out. Thanks!
