Default Cliff Divers? Better viewing by boat or on land?

How easy is it to see the cliff divers when everyone else from your cruise ship has the same idea? Are the viewing platforms really crowded, making it hard to see? What about viewing from the water? Are there any ships that take you to see the divers that way? Is there more than one afternoon show when the cruise ships are in town?

Not sure if you are seeing the cliff divers in Acapulco or Mazatlan. I've seen both and did a ship excursion in Acapulco. No problems seeing the divers with this excursion. There are a few levels of platforms to view from. I just walked straight down to the one nearest to the divers. I'm a fast walker so had no problems.

In Mazatlan, we did a private tour but there were many tour busses there and really no problems getting a good few.

If your question concerns the divers in Acapulco:

I've never viewed the divers from a boat in the water nearby, but I can't imagine the experience/view is as good on a boat as it is up-close on the viewing platforms at La Quebrada. Different strokes for different folks, though and what I like you may not. Going by boat probably entitles you to a bit of a tour of Bahia de Santa Lucia (Acapulco Bay) and with some alcoholic or other beverages . . . and that can't be bad, especially at Sunset. You probably can't go wrong, no matter where you choose to view the drivers. Let your budget be your guide!

Dh likes to take a taxi (from the street - a VW bug is about $2-3 to La Quebrada for the divers in Acapulco.) Then he pays $5 - or probably more now - for a soda or beer and the right to walk down a stairway to a viewing point opposite the divers - actually the place where they climb out of the water after their dives. Before the cane I used to go with him, but it's too far to go back up for me now.

We did a sun set boat trip to view the divers, realy enjoyed the trip. Got to see the divers up close, see the sun set, and them view the city at night, and there was an open bar.
