Default All balcony rooms are sold out...what are the chances of getting one from waitlist?

My parents just decided to join us on our cruise that leaves on Nov. 28th. The balcony rooms on our sailing are sold out. Carnival put them on a waiting list...has anyone ever been able to get a cabin from being waitlisted? Also, do they usually make the cost alot more, or is it pretty comparable to what the rates had been running?

I would think it would be doubtful they will come available this close to sailing date, especially with no suites available for upsell calls either.

I would have them go ahead and book the oceanview and continue to monitor if a balcony should open up, otherwise waiting may get them no cabin at all.

We already booked them into an oceanview...I was just thinking there may be cancellations and they may be able to move into a balcony.

No one can answer this question. There are just too many different factors that anyone that does answer you will be only guessing. It could happen, it might happen, it might not happen, who knows, anything is possible.

If they clear the so called "waitlist" (which I have never heard of, unless by a PVP watching out for you), the price will be the current price they are charging for the stateroom that may or may not become available.

Do you know what spot your parents are on the wait list? It doesn't look to be the smallest of ships passenger occupancy wise at least - I would think there are going to be cancellations. Things happen, I guess it would depend on how far down the list you are, whether the cruise is overbooked and where the cancellations occur.

You only have a couple of weeks for someone to cancel. Once its the last 7 days, no reason for anyone to cancel, because they are still going to lose 100% of their money.

Not only does someone have to cancel, but they need to cancel a balcony or higher category to help you. chancy, but anything is possible.

It really is not a must for them to have a balcony, but I know my dad would love to have one! We have them booked in a oceanview. Getting a balcony would just be the icing on the cake!

UPDATE: I was able to get them a balcony cabin!! The waitlist is a joke though...I called and was told that they would contact waitlist people before they offer any balcony cabins on the website. Well, you guessed it, I found it on the website I am just so excited for my parents!! My dad is going to LOVE sitting on his balcony, drinking his coffee every morning.
