Default Infinity P/C Cruise ... Another Piece

Topic #6: Service

The Infinity crew is fabulous. From our cabin steward Pedro to our DR waiter Mario and asst waiter Raoul to the sommelier (wine steward) Aydan and on and on, you couldn't ask for nicer people or better service. Wherever you go onboard ship someone is always saying "good morning" or "hello" or "how are you?" Even the maintenance people working in hidden closets who rarely see the light of day were upbeat and never failed to greet us.

We credit the training. We've been on cruises where the crew members have been glum or avoided personal contact. The Infinity crew showed the difference a well-trained crew can make. And it's a big difference--Imagine spending 2 wks on a ship with grumpy workers and grudging service.

It was, however, more than just attitude. The service was first-class. Tables cleared quickly; rms kept in good order; public areas clean and neat. When one afternoon our ice bucket was not filled, it was a shock. (Of course, it was filled immediately when we brought it to the cabin steward's attn.) One personal story: I asked for Mario's opinion on items on the dinner menu so often that he stationed himself by my shoulder before taking anyone's order!

These are friendly, very likable people who're dedicated to making our cruise as pleasant as possible. Now if I could just bring them all home with me....

Tomorrow I'll tackle the topic that seems to concern so many: food. Stay tuned.

BTW, I forgot to mention that we had a problem develop with the faucet in the bathrm. We mentioned it to our cabin steward; he said he'd report it. It was fixed when we returned to our cabin 2 hrs later. As I said, I wish we could take these people home with us!
