I tried a search for this but it didn't work...
Can someone tell me if there is full promenade deck on the Freedom of the Seas? We have missed it on Celebrity. Thanks so much.

Hi. I was hoping someone who had been on the ship would reply (and I'm sure they will soon). In the meantime, here's what I have gleaned from reviews, postings on these boards and the deck plans I have seen:
Deck 4 is open to the air on both sides of the ship. It is possible to walk around the stern of the ship on this deck. (There's actually a part that bumps out around the dining room on each side, so the view from those spots may be even better.) You can't go around the bow of the ship on this deck, but there is apparently a doorway towards the bow end of the ship that leads up stairs to deck 5 and to an open space. You can then walk up another short stairway to the helipad area at the very bow of the ship. (The helipad area may be closed at various times, but it looks like you can walk around it and continue your circuit around to the stairs leading down to deck 4 on the other side of the ship.) So, with a couple of stair climbs, you should be able to walk all the way around the ship. I am looking forward to trying this in January. There is also a jogging track up on deck 12, but it is not a full circuit of the ship. If I've gotten this wrong, anyone, please feel free to add to or correct my mistakes. Thanks. m. |

In many cases, they close off the bow area at night. Some ships leave it open, but it has been closed at night on every one of my sailings. I was told that they do it to prevent people from taking flash photography of the bridge, hurting the lookout's night vision.

Deck 5 is the promenade deck. Full depends on how you look at it. The tail end also has the main dining room and the front has the entrance to the theaters. (I think).
See Ya on board. Rob |

No, not a Royal Promenade... a standard Promenade deck. Thanks to those that have responded. I don't mind the sets of stairs...it is just nice to have a full promenade for walking. The jogging tracks are not my thing, but I love walking on the promenade. One of the ONLY things I love about Holland America is their promenade decks. Exactly how they should be. |
