Post Emerald Princess - Obstructed View?

We are thinking of taking the Emerald Princess for a 7 day in February. We are trying to decide between an inside or outside obstructed view? Are the obstructed views really obstructed or just having a life boat outside the window but you can still see the beautiful ocean?

Any help will be appreciated.

I am going on the Crown, and these two ships are very similar. Depending on the category in the OV, you could get a cabin that has no obstruction at all!!! I booked E701 on the Crown because there is absolutely nothing obstructing it, yet it says there is....it is Category F. You just have to do some research to determine whether or not a cabin is completely blocked.

There is a thread on here that has many pictures of obstructed view cabins, so you can know beforehand what view you will have with certain cabins.

We were in E707 on the Emerald. Our traveling companion was in E705. There is a large white metal box outside the window, which houses the inflatible life rafts. However, it only blocks a portion of the view from either cabin. Clear view of the ocean from either of these cabins. These were great cabins, IMO. Same would be true for E706 and E708.

We just sailed the Ruby (identical) and had E703 (EE category). This had no obstruction whatsoever. The only problem, the door to the Promenade deck is immediately below, and from early morning on, it slammed continuously.

There is a sight called cruisedeckplans.com. It is a sight where you can actually see pictures of actual cabins on a particular ship. But only members can look at those pictures. The fee however is only $9.99 a year or $12.99 for 2 years! it has all the major cruise lines ships on it and some even have virtual visits to the cabins.

Does anyone here have any experience with room E615 on the Emerald? We are getting ready to board the ship this weekend with that room.

Exclamation What are you above??

A lot of the OV cabins are just fine and the price is great, however, be very sure to check the deck plans as the Emerald deck is above some loud areas. Also, be aware that you might have workers outside the window early in the morning

We were on the Diamond in E415 with a perfect view and the crooners lounge directly below...it would get old after a few nights, however the singer got tired about midnight most nights.

You have one of the large lifeboats outside you window. You will get light but no real view.

The view will be very much like this: (Photo courtesy of KoolJamming's site from a previous post)

Bon Voyage, Terry and Beth! No matter what the view, you two will have a fabulous time, I'm sure! We're on the same ship, same deck, E415 come January and so looking forward to it and the Island a week later. Wanted to spend a little less for this one and do the balcony thing for the Panama Canal.
Have a super cruise...we'll be watching on the bridge cam.

Thumbs up E701 & E633 Emerald Princess Cat F

Here is a link to my webshot pictures (#10 thru #18)on the Emerald Princess. We were in E701 and my DB in E633 right next door.

Neither of us heard any noise from the doors below us leading to the promenade deck. Or for that matter, we didn't hear any noise outside of our cabins at all. Great location.

For the cost of these Catagory F cabins, they were excellent!

Just a note: these cabins, on the Emerald Princess, would be identical on the Crown & Ruby.
