Default VF to VC - is this an upgrade?

Just received our cabin assignment on the OOsterdam for 11/21. Went from a VF to VC (5145) and I don't see any difference. If anything, we are further away from things we want to be near.

Not complaining, always happy just to be on board.

The VF verandahs on Deck 4 have a solid railing (as do the VH verandahs), while all of the other V* cabins have a plexiglass railing. 5145 is on the outside of the 'hump' which tends to increase your view, as opposed to the VF cabins (5051-5070 and 5125-5140), which are in the inset above the lifeboats. Finally, higher decks are generally considered better, although that is a matter of opinion.

We like being in the aft quarter of the ship, as that is to "food end". Most of the time when we leave our cabin we are heading first to either the MDR or the Lido. I'd prefer the 5145 to any VF.

and have balconies that are 1.5 ft shallower than the VC.

Indeed the VC veranda is deeper than the VF and you won't be above the life boats.

It is indeed an uprade in my book.
