Default Sea Sickness tablets - what are they called?

Hi, can anyone tell me the name or the ingredient in the sea sickness tablets that RCCL hand out? I'm going on a cruise line who don't provide them so wanted to stock up myself.

Many thanks x

Default meclizine

Generic Name: meclizine (MEK li zeen)
Brand names: Antivert, Bonine, D-Vert, Dramamine II, Medivert, Driminate II, Meclicot, Ru-Vert-M, Meni-D

We haven't cruised RCL in about a year, but the drug they gave out (at that time) was meclizine. You can order a large bottle of chewable tabs from the pharmacy at Target.

I don't know what RCCL uses but I use Bonine and Ginger pills. I use to get motion sickness as a kid and I have nver been sick on a cruise ship if I use Bonine and Ginger pills. Bonine is like Dramamine but it doesn't make you drowsy. I hope this helps

We are just off the Explorer, my SIL had to go down to the medi-center for another matter, she said that she saw a big bowl full of meclazine that they would give you for free if you needed it. So, they may not have it up at Guest Services anymore, but, It seems that they are still available in the medi-center for free.

If not, they do sell Bonnine in the gift shops on board.

I usually start taking a non-drowsy dramamine 2 days before the cruise and then 1 every night. It has worked like a charm.

I take prescription Phenergen. I've discovered that I can take 1/2 tablet every evening with dinner and it works great. I begin the evening before embarkation.

If I take Phenergan I will sleep for about 18 hours......even with half a tablet. I like the non drowsy Bonine.

The active ingredient in Bonine is "Meclizine" and is available over the counter for a much lower price.

Take care,
Mike

I first used Bonine tablets when I got them on the Enchantment of the Seas at the Pursers desk. That is the name they gave me when I asked what they were.
They worked great and I have used them every cruise since 2002.

I notice you are from the Uk and unfortunately we can't purchase Bonine here. You can however get Sea Legs which have the same ingredients.

That's why I take them at dinner and I only take 1/2 tablet. But, whatever works. I learned to only take 1/2 the hard way, when I slept through a lot of my first cruise!
