Default Ruby bed bugs??? Baja aft cabins

A current Ruby cruiser is stating that a Baja aft cabin on Ruby has bed bugs and the people in the cabin are getting bit? Does anyone know if there is any truth to this??? There are many future Baja aft cabin cruisers who want to know.

Many thanks

This poster has seen come comments on a current Live From thread.

And, yes, 'bed bugs' is a serious accusation, which I am not sure is warranted.

From what has been posted, this sounds much more like some kind of flea situation. Fleas can be easily dealt with with a change out of bedding, some spray and/or powder, and a good carpet vacuuming.

NOTE: beg bugs come out at night, during periods of quiet inactivity...
They do not just jump on people and bite them, like has been described. I serlously doubt that this is a problem with bed-bugs.

In any case - Princess should take this situation SERIOUSLY.... Don't know why the posters on this other thread feel that they have been ignored or treated rudely about this.

I would go straight to Dirk Brand, who I think is the top Hotel/Cruise administrator on the Ruby.

Again, nobody has stated that there are bed-bugs.

There were comments about being bitten, which sound like a situation with some type of flea.

There has been a tremendous increase in bedbugs throughout the world....No associated with "dirt". They have been found in the "best hotels" in the world. The Plaza, the Waldorf, numerous Hyatts etc.....they can come in in seams in peoples clothing....hide in cracks and come out at night. They have a distinctive look to the bite......and can be exterminated......Although they are more common in the warmer part of the world, they are found throughout the world....If Princess has them, I am sure they will take care of them....Not to worry......

Well it seems to be a one off. They said the steward changed the sheets and all is well. If it were bed bugs the problem would not go away that easily. I do not think people should be reading so much into it.

Bed bugs, if that's what they are, are in the mattress, not the sheets. And, they're brought in by passengers, as are fleas. The first thing I would do is immediately let my steward know (who would report it to his/her supervisor) and let the Front Desk know. If it wasn't taken seriously, I'd let the Captain's Circle Hostess know. In other words, if you can identify the problem, let as many people know as possible.

Billet,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I think you have one of those bed bugs running around at the top of your post. Call the Orkin man!

Yes billet,
I too wondered why that bug crawls around on your screen.
Did you do that purposely?

Hit the escape key and the bug stops moving.

My father was the victim of some bug infestation on a HAL ship 2 years ago. They woke up after the first night and had bites all over their bodies. They were instantly moved to a better cabin, received very generous OBC, had all of their clothes laundered or dry cleaned and had their luggage fumigated. Their old cabin as stripped down and everything changed. Although an unpleasant experience, things happen. What mattered to them was the way HAL treated them. This was a 35 day cruise and they were pampered the rest of the way.

Now, that's great customer service! It's the way things should be done, but many times aren't for many reasons.

I'm glad to hear this isn't an issue.

BUT seriously, like others pointed out, that awful bug crawling all around my screen is "VERY" annoying! I too scroll past this persons post, sometimes never even reading theirs due to that thing. I tried hitting the esc button, but maybe hitting it on a mac doesn't work. I think they should ban those things on all adult boards, because its one thing if its a picture or a still avatar, but when the thing starts invading on other peoples screens, and as annoying as it is, its just rude! I mean the whole point of that thing is to leave it behind on every post you make so that it can annoy as many people as possible.
