Exclamation RCCL to charge for paper Tickets !!

Royal Caribbean today announced it's switching to e-tickets.

Effective for bookings after Dec. 13, passengers on Royal Caribbean and Celebrity ships who still want a paper ticket will have to pay a $35 fee. The fee will be waived for Azamara bookings.

It's not really a new fee. It's been in place for awhile - if you were scheduled to get etickets and requested hard tickets you were charged $35.

Default Hi Coxwain

Are you sure as most tickets come via TA or have they Took a leaf out of Irish RYANAIR.

IF O'leary was in charge the Next moves,

Charging $5 dollars a meal in the MDR.
$10 a day if you want the cabin serviced
$1 ice machine on each cabin deck
$2 a case to deliver to your room and the same on the last night.
Auto non refundable tips and taxes.even if you dont sail
$5 priorty tender tickets.

Can you think of more?

Mind you early offers, one cent for inside cabin!!! plus taxes etc of course

On the Brilliance 30th hope we dont have the problems you did, as first time joining ship same day, instead of hotel in Barcelona.
Pity ANGELA not in D bar,
Did you get your compensation?

The email docs are not a bad Idea since if you loose or misplace them you simply reprint them off your Email account. Ok They are over 20 pages but you can reduce that by simply printingthe important bits

I am a little confused? is this $35 already charged? And if I decide on an e-ticket they will send me a refund? or am I going to get another bill for my January cruise? I have not requested any kind of ticket. I never do, I just always get a paper ticket. We are leaving on JAN 13 and all paid up. I would hate to get another BILL. on the other hand, if I were to get an e-ticket, I wouldn't mind getting a REFUND. Can you tell me how this works? thanks

Yeah, I'd like to know that as well. I requested paper docs, but did not see anyplace that I was charged for them, as of yet. Curious. I could print off the e-docs if its going to cost me $140 for a family of 4.....

It is for bookings after 12/13. Not cruises already booked. A family of 4 only gets 1 set of docs, not four sets unless you booked 4 cabins on 4 different reservations.

I can't belive RC waited this long to do this. Paper docs in the mail, big waste of $$.

Not something new. Other cruise lines did this a while back. Not a biggie. Just print them off. The paper tickets were a waste anyway with everyone having to fill out their Set Sail pass on line.

I have no problem with this ... the only thing I ever did with the old ticket books was to read the excursion list and grab luggage tags. Now that they still send you luggage tags and you can get the list online, the paper tickets seem like a waste.

Default Sorry for those w/o computers

There are still some for who it is cumbersome to use someone elses computer to print the documents out. These people are being punished for not having a computer which I find is wrong.

Well more and more compaines are moving to paperless. It is just a sign of the times. Those that choose to not move ahead with technology will pay more. Simple as that. Right or wrong, that's the way it is.

Even my Investment Co set up a paperless viewing of my accounts, so I don't receive the Monthly reports now I go online and print it out. If you of course don't have a computer they will continue sending out the statments.

Its not always a choice though, especially for older people. My dad wouldnt have a clue how to even turn a computer on. Its a shame that people like him should have to pay so much with docs that have always been free. And would it really cost RC $35.00 to print these for you? I dont think so.

I never print out the e-docs anyway.

Just do the setsail pass and off we go.

And if I don't have the setsail pass, but have my passport, I believe that's enough anyway.
