Default Greetings from the Shadow

We boarded yesterday and Friday the 13th could not have been better! All is well and I wanted to address the issue of the "same menu every night in the Terrace". Yes, the menu will remain constant but they finally got it right. It is authentically Italian. There are 4/5 antipastos, 4.5 short pasta, 4/5 long pastas and 3 entrees. They pasta is ALL fresh and made daily! It was very good last night and I can stay here for quite awhile and not get bored. I was prepared to be hostile about it and I was completely wrong!

Great news! Glad to get the update and positive details. As I re-call, you'll be on the Silver Cloud July 1-16, 2010, with us from Copenhagen sailing along the Norway Coast, doing the fjords, being above the Arctic Circle, etc. Keep us posted on more details for which of the Italian delights you liked most and why.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Have a great cruise.

DT - What is the difference between a short pasta and a long pasta other than the obvious size/shape difference? I'm surprised they only have 3 entrees. Are the desserts the same every evening? They were pretty much the same when we were on in September.

DW - The condition of the ship when we were on in September/October was just fine except for the ping pong table which adds all kinds of interesting dimensions to the game.

Default Celebrity Chef Details?

Looks like you've got a nice cruise with many interesting ports from Barbados, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Martinique, Dominica, St. Barts, St. Kitts, British Virgin Islands, etc. Was interested that they had a celebrity chef on board with Stéphane Mazieres from Hôtel Le Toiny’s Restaurant Le Gaïac in St. Barts. Look forward to your sharing of any details on how that type of program works out for those on the cruise.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

duct tape; we were on In aug and noticed in la terraza that there was no great buffet with the large prociutto ham and other delicacies that were on in previous years . found it very uninspiring; glad you think it's back to par !

Default Condition, arrival, etc.

When we cruised Silversea a little over a year ago, they had a wonderful buffet as you arrived and served champagne. Did they offer that? And can you tell us about the condition of the ship, cabins, food, service, etc.?

Well, let's see... The ship looks OK, new carpet in the suites, same old bedspreads and nicked furniture here and there. It is what it is but it is roomy, comfy and most welcoming and accommodating. There is no more antipasto table in the Terrace. I think that wasted way too much food, just pouring money down a black hole. You are still greeted with prosecco when you are seated. The ship is VERY full, 384! Not seeing many children though. The pool is warm after some issues last week, evidently. SanGiacomo is the Capt., Sergio de Moura, Maitre'd, David Lawton, CD, Michele, HD, Kinga, CC and lots of familiar faces. Yes, short and long pasta are literally that. It is a real treat to have short pasta that is not dried. The Guest Chef has not arrived yet...we get to St Barth's tomorrow. I think that about covers it!

Thumbs up Thanks Duct Tape!!!

Great to hear your personal comments about the Shadow. We know how much you love SS and know your reviews are honest and from the heart.

Much appreciated.

Who is the bartender on deck 5? Are the barmaids still some of our favourites?

Enjoy St. Barths.......one of my favourite places in the Caribbean for eating and shopping. We always try and get to Hotel Isle de France for lunch (they always let the lunch guests use their beautiful beach).

Kind regards,
ScottToronto

DT - Is Gerardo still the bartender in the Panorama lounge? If so, could you please ask him if he will be on for the Tahiti cruise in February. He is Bob's favorite. Many thanks.

With respect to carpet: there was an elevator lobby carpet (I forget which deck) which had a very large stain. Has that been replaced? And if you see Kinga tell her Ron has his personalized voyage LA/HNL we discussed at lunch early this years and will she be aborad?

Actually, I have not noticed carpet stains in the elevator lobbies, a good thing. As to your particular stain, I haven't noticed. Yes, Kings is here and I will giveher your message. Rainy day in St Barth's but bought a lobster on the pier and had a wonderful lunch!

So you gave your lobster to the ship's kitchen, and they cooked it for you right away!

duct tape, I know what you mean. My late wife and I spent 10 nights on a cruise on Celebrity's Infinity (which is a sister ship to Millennium) and it is huge. If you enjoy being in a very crowded shopping mall at Christmas time, you would love Infinity and Millennium.

Well, finishing the final details to fly out on Saturday and join you on Sunday. Have early embarkation and will board around 11:00 a.m. Thanks for the update, and can't wait to be on Shadow once again.

Have a great cruise, Charlie! I have enjoyed reading your posts the past few months. Hope to meet you on a future cruise.

Duct tape, if you are still aboard Shadow can you check their single malt selection? Was it you said they have Ardbeg from Islay?
