Unhappy Ever been not excited about a cruise?

So DH and I booked our 1 year anniversary cruise earlier this year and I was ecstatic (3rd cruise for both of us). We cruise in only 7 more days, DH couldn't be more excited, me...not so much. Maybe it's stress at work but I haven't even given our upcoming cruise much thought. Not only that, I've been so busy that I've booked 0 excursions ...very out of the norm for me. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I'm right there with you. we sail on 12 Dec and we're in the middle of a job relocation, trying to sell our house, and setting up a household goods shipment.

Yes, and it's because I despise packing. Once we leave the house for the airport, then I can't wait to get on board.

I love to plan the cruise, talk about the cruise, get ready for the cruise until a few days before we leave and I realize I have to pack, finalize stuff at work, shut down the house, etc. I just put up with it, realizing that once I see the ship waiting for me, it was all worth it!

Thumbs up

I think going on any vacation without having your sights set too high (or even being down beforehand) is the perfect way to start out.

Default Don't worry...

It sounds like you haven't had much of a chance to even THINK about your cruise. That's ok....have your DH plan a couple excursions and just go with the flow for the rest. Once you have a drink in your hand you'll be ready to have fun!

OP - I'm not sure what ship or itinerary you are sailing, but have you checked out the roll call for your ship? I'm sure there are a lot of excited fellow cruisers that will get you excited very quickly! It's not too late to plan excursions, although the availability may be somewhat limited. I hope you perk up!

I'd rather set out with no expectations and be pleasantly surprised, than go with huge ones and be bitterly disappointed.

Yup...it just happens that way sometimes. We have so many stresses in our lives that we don't always have a chance to get excited. But not to worry, once you leave all the nonsense behind and step on the ship, you should feel 100% better!

Enjoy, and just think about the rest of us who are staying home and going to work. Toast us when you get on board!

I'm a freak about packing, getting places on time, fear of losing things, etc. I can't really relax until I've checked in at the terminal.

Not whiny at all...

it happens. We "burned out" when we did 11 cruises in 13 months...ending with the Blogger's Cruise that was a mad house of activity.

We took a break for a few months....slowed things down and now we are back to normal.....

You know what..I think that may be what happened to me.
Actually, I was kind of dreading my first cruise. My wife had been on one with her family.
She had always wanted to go on one, but not me. I like to go somewhere and get to know
the place. Get a real feel for it. I don't like touristy things or places. But, I went on that cruise with an open mind, thinking
whatever happens, it will be ok..make the best of it..that kind of attitude. I was very nervous getting there and checking in and all that stuf, but once we were on board, and our bags were in the room..I started to relax a bit and dang it, now I am Hooked!!
We have 2 more booked ( booked one just yesterday) and I keep looking at future dates.
.....those "Cove Balconies" are looking really nice.....
