Question Have you ever gotten tired of cruising?

From the moment I boarded my 1st cruise as an 11yo, I was sure I'd be a Platinum Cruiser Between DH and I we have 5 cruises under our belts and after this next one is over we are considering throwing in the towel for a bit. I think we're both just ready to try something different. Although I must admit, from time to time I check out cruise itineraries for next year ...Ever taken a cruise sabbatical???

Every time I think we won't cruise for at least a few months, we get a great offer that's so tempting we can't refuse!

Thumbs up

Not yet. I also take several extended land trips a year to Mexico and Europe. I mix it up and it seems to keep it all fresh.

Is this question for people who only cruise for vacations?

We've always mixed it up with other types of vacations. But so far, we've never become tired of cruising.

Maybe that's the cure... all the vacations DH and I have taken together have been cruises not including the little weekend getaways here and there. After this cruise our next vacay may need to be a land trip. Thanks

One of our favorite ports of call on cruises is Cozumel. We LOVE it. So, one year we took a week's vacation and stayed at one of the all-inclusive resorts there. It was wonderful...and know how we described it? "This is like a land-locked cruise!"

I never get tired of cruising however my DH and I also enjoy Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg each year too. If I had my way about it, I would live in TN and cruise the rest of the time!

No. After 16 cruises I still love cruising. I still do other trips though. I am going to San Fran for the week after Thanksgiving. I guess it depends on how many weeks of vacation you get each year. I get 4 weeks so I can mix it up some.

Although we do other things as well.... (Nascar races, Resorts, etc)

I have to say that we did get burned out when we completed 11 cruises in 13months....ending Feb of this year.

We have decided that 4-6 a year is probably the best fit.

It did not help that the 11th cruise was the Blogger's Cruise that also included a couple days in New Orleans doing volunteer work etc. That cruise had so much going on......

I believe from now on we will only cruise certain months. (January, May, Sept, Oct, early Nov....early Dec) .....

I've gone 4 years without a cruise, and I've done 4 cruises in a year. Right now I've not cruised for over a year. But in all cases it is the other situations in my life that determine how often and when I cruise. If cruising desire was the only consideration involved, I'd probably live on a ship. Right now I have family members that desperately want to cruise but they have health issues, so Barb and I await their outcomes.

We have been on 14 cruises since 2000 and think if I mixed it up a bit instead of two cruises each year--i dont think I would have cruise burn out.
Towards the end there they were all begining to be the same-- so we decided on a weeks land vacation in Aruba---wow that was what we needed- so now we go on one cruise then one land vacation each year.

YES I did. if you look at my cruise history I stopped cruising for a while. I got tired of the same old jokes. What brought me back to cruising were my kids. Carnival is a bang for the buck. Its a cheep way for 5 of us to go on vacation. Next month they make it to Platinum. I would bet in the next 5 years we start to cut back on cruising. my next passion maybe a 2nd home in Arizona.

When do you work I would LOVE to be able to cruise more than once a year but can't talk DH into it. Maybe if we didn't have to fly to port it would be easier. I guess I'm lucky to try to get 1 in a year, plus we do other smaller trips IN THE USA.
