Default After Oasis and Allure???

Now that we have Oasis of the Seas... and Allure of the Seas is being finished... what's next? Does RCCL have any new ship builds in the works? Whatever happened to the rumors of an upgraded Radiance Class ship being designed? (although in my humble opinion changing anything on a Radiance Class ship would be a crime against humanity! I love those ships!!!) Seriously, is there anything coming after Allure? It seems they will still need to replace their older vessels but with what?

I believe they still have an option for another freedom class or two.
They're probably letting their bank account rest for a few months lol.
Seriously though, probably waiting to see how the giant ships are received by the public, that will influence which way RCI goes with their next new builds.

I would love to see a new radiance class ship. I wouldn't want much in the way of changes, except maybe a flow rider.

They have a couple more Solstice class ships coming for the Celebrity side, but I don't think they went forward with the Freedom class ship order for the RCI side.

More Radiance Class, no changes to the spectacular views, maybe a redesign of the shops ( condensed Royal promenade)

I'm sure it will take some time to feel out these new ships. However, it looks good so far. Most of the room categories are sold out for my October, 10' cruise. Also, I looked at booking with some friends for Spring Break next year. That cruise, also, is nearly sold out. This, despite high prices!

If these ships continue to be such a success, who knows what will follow?!

I think it's all going to depend on when the economy improves...

...and if the economy doesn't improve, I wonder if RCCL will retire some of its older tonnage to reduce supply to demand...

They will retire Monarch and Majesty pretty soon no matter what.

It will be interesting to see if they build more Freedom class or continue building Oasis class ships.

It does seem that the Radiance class ship is the favorite of many, many cruisers on this board although families seem to be drawn to Freedom and Voyager class.

Let's hope its not bankruptcy.

I look for them to create the 4th Freedom class ship. Maybe send it to the West Coast.

Michelle, we really need more choices here on the West Coast and feel they should bring back the RT Hawaii on a Radiance Class or even a Voyager Class. Give the Mariner more options. Now a Freedom class might not be a bad idea, one we haven't been on yet.

Agree...Hard to believe we only have one ship here on the west coast...Would love for them to bring back 3, 4 and or 5 night cruises for us here...Why not bring back Vision she would be perfect...Sad they have forgotten about the whole west coast.....I would love to see a Radiance or a Freedom class ship here also but I don't think that will ever happen.....

I doubt we see any new ship orders until the economy picks up. So far none of the cruise lines have ordered any new tonnage.

I read a post from a person that works at Aker/STX Europe that since the Freedom was introduced, there have been many new advances in technology and that a Freedom as we know it would not be built. I look for something between Voyager and Freedom class. Maybe even something built off the Solstice platform.

RCIs next ship being planned is code named 'Everything'. At 5,280ft long, she will be the first mile long cruise ship in the world. At 800 feet wide and 55 decks high, she will hold 155,000 passengers, some in staterooms designed to look like secluded beach homes, each with their own private beach. A monorail system will transport passengers throughout the ship.

Nearly every activity known to man will be available on the ship. A full sized stadium will be located amidships, hosting concerts, Super bowl games, and World Soccer competitions. Building on the successful introduction of 'neighborhoods' on the Oasis class, the ship will have twenty 'regions', each with its own unique feel to it. Exciting activities will include: white water rafting on a 1-1/4 mile long river winding through three decks and ending in the 'Great Lakes' region; horse back riding in a forested area called the 'Wilderness' region; jet skiing on a small cove in the 'Beaches' region; skydiving from a platform at the top of one of the eight funnels into the 'Golden Gate Park' region at the bottom of the ship; a snow skiing slope in the 'Alps' region; real rock wall climbing experiences will be available in the 'Yosemite' region (which will replace the smaller rock walls on previous ships). The 'Amazon' region will have a rain forest with tropical plants, appropriate wildlife, and a butterfly rookery. The 'Sin City' region will be a true adults only area, with adult night clubs and book stores, and massage parlors specializing in a different 'massage' expereince that what is available in the spa.

A unique, never before offered feature will be the incorporation of micro climates, possible only because of the size of the ship. In some regions the temperature will be cool; others will be mild, while the 'Sahara' region will be hot, with twelve acres of sand dunes where camel rides will be available.

To provide the maximum convenience for passengers, they will have the flexibility to board and disembark at almost any time they choose on regularly scheduled flights at the international airport on the top deck.

Construction will take a minimum of twelve years. The projected inaugural date is sometime in 2021. Sister ship, code named 'Entirety', is projected to be complete five years later.

My bet would be on more Freedom classes. When you hit Oasis Class size you trigger having to upgrade every single port you touch (million$ per port). Plus I wonder if RC would run the risk of introducing invasive species to other ports if they sail something with a Central Park outside the tropics. Freedom Class is the biggest class out there that can actually sail in more than one region of the world.

I really wonder what will happen when the Radiance Class reaches retirement (or "demotion to a secondary line") age. Sure, it's a "fan favorite," but RC seems to be going in the direction of being the "Big Ship Line with Ice Rinks and Malls..."

My guess. They evidently do away with all but Freedom and Oasis classes.

From a business stand point. Keeps costs down all around to do a large load over fewer smaller loads. I see all of the cruise lines building larger ships . Carnival, Holland, etc.

I am a smaller ship fan. Am sure will do Oasis to see the experience. I look at is sorta a hotel vs a resort at sea. If I had small kids would prefer larger ships. Plus, zip lines, surfing, Merry go rounds generate extra income .

I am an aft fan, and do not like Freedom & Voyager, metal aft structure. and surely do not like Oasis aft design.

I also opine that the reason more ships are not doing west coast is the high port charges. As someone who is east coast but has visited the west coast. I would love a cruise up and down the west coast. ( I know they do repositioning ) I read last year that Alaska has lost many cruises due to high port charges. These cities could see great income out west if they would develop cruise ports and relations.

From these reading, we better get in as many cruises as the pocketbook allows, on the Radiance Class size, or we won't have much selection and will be to old to cruise anyway.

Considering the discounts I already see for Mariner, are more/bigger ships the answer on the west coast? Just curious ....

I did see plans last fall for what they called the Falcon class after the Allure would be built. Don't ask, it was too bizarre looking to even be called a ship. I hope they stop with the Oasis class size and go back to focusing on Radience or Voyager class ships.
