Default Wireless in-room question

SO... just curious, if we were to get an internet package for our cabin, could my husband and I BOTH use our laptops, or just one of us?

Great question. Could they use both laptops at the same time or just one at a time?

p.s. Hylas girl........do you have a Hylas sailboat? Read your name & my heart began beating very quickly! We are sailors ourselves (dh & I) and love the Hylas yachts.

You select a password to sign in. You can use either laptop, but I doubt whether you can use both of your laptops at the same time. I did not have a need to try, but I am not sure that the system would be able to deduct minutes from two users at the same time on the exact same account. Of course, you could both sign up with two different accounts and then surf together.

On our recent Mercury cruise both DW and I had to set up a separate WiFi account for each of us to get the free 90 minutes , $49.95 value, internet package Elite benefit we were each entitled to. You needed to moniter your remaining minutes closely since if you used up one person's package the online time was then billed at the per minute, $0.65, rate even if the other person's package still had available minutes on it.

Interesting..... Does this mean that each Elite member gets 90 minutes of internet time? I had assumed it would be 90 minutes per stateroom if 2 Elite members were in the same cabin. Do you mean 2 Elite members sharing the same stateroom EACH get 90 minutes of free internet time?

This doesn't really answer your question but we just off the Ruby Princess today. My wife and I each got 250 complimentary minutes and an additional 20 minutes each for booking the first day. Also all cabins had wireless access which is very nice.

M&Dcruisers:

If both passengers are Elite, you get two sets of coupons. On our Equinox cruise last October we used one $49.99 coupon (90 minutes) and then when we ran out we used the other coupon. We had to use the second key card with the second coupon.

Also, if you happen to run over (say you use 100 rather than 90 minutes) you will pay per minute for the extra 10 minutes. The account does not just turn off after 90 minutes.

Yes, if both passengers are Elite, like DW and I, you get two coupon good for 90 minutes of internet time each.

The nice thing about having your own laptop computer onboard is that you log on to the ship's WiFi with a user name and password so you only need your ship's cards to set up your WiFi account initially using a ship's computer. After doing that you can log on to either account, if you have two in a cabin, just by entering the user name and password. Also anyone else can use your laptop to go into their account if they have set up one.
