Brad Phillips, a dominant force in Southcentral Alaska's tourism industry for decades, died Monday in Seattle.
Phillips, 84, created the first cruise tours in Prince William Sound in the late 1950s, served in the Alaska Legislature and introduced the first commercial catamaran to Alaska waters, family and former colleagues said today. In the 1960s, he founded Phillips Cruises and Tours, which remains one of Prince William Sound's most popular cruise tours. He sold the business six years ago but continued to spend his summers helping with the glacier cruises. http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/1026199.html |

I haven't been to Alaska yet, but it has been a lifelong dream (my Aunt lived there and I never got to visit her in her home). I am grateful to the pioneers who paved the way for people like me to see Alaska in all it's beauty.
So Thank You, Brad Philips, for introducing Alaska's beauty to so many people.
