Talking HUGE Price Drop - Lucky Me!!

We are booked on Liberty for next October and were lucky enough to get an aft balcony. Booked this a couple months ago

However, today, just lurking around, went on their website and just SAVED $600 - $300 per person for the E1 aft balcony. My gosh, this cruise with RCCL on Liberty will cost LESS than our cruise last month on Carnival Glory.

Happy Thanksgiving - WOW am I a happy girl! I wonder if there will be any MORE price drops?????

Lucky you! my sister in law also got a nice price drop. She booked the Liberty last October (guarantee room), she checked back a couple of days ago to find Promenade rooms to be priced same as her guarantee when she first booked. She called RCCL and got a Promenade room assigment!

I hope I get as lucky as you! happy cruising!

My cruise also had a huge drop. Im on the independence and the D1 balcony is now 725. the first reservation that we had was over 1,000. Im thinking about my first cruise on the Constellation we paid for an inside gty. more than for this Balcony.

And latter with the Oasis I think that we are going to get better deals on cruises. May be 300 per week will be the norm on an inside.

We got the same thing for our August 1 Liberty of the Seas cruise!! We have a E2 balcony room and a promenade stateroom for the boys. We saved $900 on the two rooms. We are thrilled! This is the same price we paid for Carnival Pride in July.

Hoping for another price drop, but do not want to be greedy! I'll take it!

Congrats! I got a big price drop on my upcoming cruise also a few weeks ago. It makes it worthwhile to book and get the best room choice and then monitor the prices to get the best price.

RCI's price drops are great!! We're sailing a balcony for the first time come Jan 1, 2010 due to a price drop. Moved from an OV to deck 8 center hump on the Navigator and saved money!

Default Price Drops....

I hope everyone has confirmed & locked in their new price drops...
On a couple other boards there has been some real anger over price drops not honored because the new price was for "new bookings only."
Don't want anyone to be disappointed or misled.
My cruise actually has gone UP since I booked it...
but like everyone else I phantom book frequently looking for a score.
So far no luck... I would settle for a $50 OB credit just for the smile.

Sorry for the question, but can someone explain what happens if there is a price drop?

We are just finalizing our first ever RCCL cruise for Sept 17, 2010 in Asia through our travel agent. We are paying a deposit now, and the balance will be due in July 2010. Does that mean if they drop the price of the cruise before the balance is due, we may possibly get it for less? Or does this only ever happen to people who have new bookings? Do we have to book a certain feature in order to possible be eligable for a savings? We are scrimping and saving for this vacation so this interets me as I never heard of it before.

Thank you!

Gone Again, that is exactly correct. If, for instance, in the case of our cruise, we book our E1 aft balcony for $979pp. On last Wednesday, I got on the RCCL site and sure enough, it had dropped down to $685pp. So, I called RCCL and told them of the price drop and they changed my cruise price. I saved about $600 total. You DO NOT have to book anything special to get this.

So, after you book your cruise at Price A, keep looking on their board to see if your cruise has dropped in price. If it has, just call them and request the lower price! (as long as your booking is eligible). The ONLY time it would not be elig is if it specifically states, "for new bookings only". That was NOT the case for us.

Happy cruising! Jeri

You lucky people. I have booked 2 cruises on the Independence next year (May & September). Both have gone up since I booked. Oh well, I will keep looking and hoping.

Thanks for the info gooselover.

I'll have to keep checking back. Does it matter that we have booked this through a travel agent rather than directly with the cruise line? Hopefully it doesn't, as I'm assuming once you get a booking number you can talk directly to RCCL about the booking.

This is great news. I never would have known. So thankful for all the info here from people on cruise critic!

I am booked with travel agent also. I had to speak with her directly to get my price drop. My price went down and I called RCCL but they told me they couldn't do it so I had to wait until the next day for the TA to open luckily it all worked out. I keep looking but it hasn't gone down again. Hopefully it will.

Gone Again, since you are working with a TA, you will need to call them. Make sure that your TA does this quickly as the prices can change any second.

My cruise on the Independence in March 2010 has doubled in price. Glad I caught the price drop when I did because what dropped to $850 pp for only an hour or two is now over $1600 pp.
