adventure in costa maya

hello,

First post here. Quick question for you. We will be in Costa Maya in October and are looking for something adventurous to do. We're not frequent cruisers but we are experienced travelers, and we prefer to get off the beaten path. I was looking at some of the ruins but it seems they can be done in half a day. I was also looking at cenote azul but couldn't find many people who had done it from costa Maya. Is this possible to combine with some ruins? Any other suggestions for adventures away from the tourist spots? We could also do some cenotes from our stop in Cozumel but are thinking of chartering a plane to chichen itza that day. We're definitely not into beach or "relaxation" time. Thanks for any advice.

David
