Royal Caribbean Changes Itinerary of Allure of the Seas Cruise Due to Hurricane Irma

A shame for the passengers, but it would be for the best for all concerned to avoid the storm.

I've been watching this develop on earth.nullschool.net and it's heading from the Cape Verde islands west of Africa, across to the Caribbean/Florida. It seems to be moving slowly, but I'm sure the cruise lines are studying it carefully.

Yeah looks as if it is getting quite large though so may be causing issues with wind and rain much further around the islands than first expected.

That's what I feared when I looked tonight...

It has strengthened to a Cat 3 Hurricane and is still moving (although slowly) towards the islands, it is expected to be mid week before any major issues will occur apart from swell, wind and rain.

Now it is a Category 5 Hurricane bearing down on Puerto Rico and the surrounding islands.

I looked at webcams for some islands, and one said it was switched off until after the hurricane. It's very scary for the islands, waiting.

Yeah, Antigua is in line to be hit hard as well.
