Has anyone actually been on an official singles cruise?

That Getaway trip looks awesome, Does that company usually have a fairly balanced group as far as male/female?

If WSU wants to play the Jayhawks or Wildcats they need to step up to the Big 12.

The last update on the Getaway I found was from 4/21. At that time these were 163 booked, 5/8 were women, average age 30's. I've heard that they are a little over 170 now, assuming the ratio hasn't changed that much.

Hey WSU didn't lose as bad to UK as K-state did and at least we didn't lose to an Ivy League school with no point guards in the 2nd round! If you do book the cruise I always bring at least 2 WSU shirts and my AWESOME 2013 Final Four hat that I wear around on the pool deck during the day!

Sent, I think I've seen you post before. I believe your one of the balcony lovers. FYI there is a 20's-40's cruise over Halloween on the Getaway that is no single supplement for now (solo balconies range from $1400-1800). Reply to my e-mail if your interested in that one since its not being advertised.

I would also be interested in the names of the best companies doing singles cruises.

I would also be interested to know what everyone has seen for the women to men ratio on the 20's & 30's cruises along with total numbers. Were the majority of the people in there 20's or 30's?

Thanks for the info

I sent you the e-mail about the companies. As far as ratio's go. The first cruise I went on was a 20's-30's cruise there were 150 people in the group. 100 guys and 50 women. I still had fun. The 20's-30's cruise that is sailing right now for some reason had a cap of 80 people, I heard that it was 50 men and 30 women with a unknown number of "unofficial" cruisers who were going on the ship but could not join the group due to the Carnival imposed cap (heard that there were no venues aboard the Sunshine that could hold a larger group). There is a 20's to 40's Halloween cruise sailing this year that is currently at @ 170 booked, its 5/8 women. They are saying they feel they will get around 300 booking and the ratio will be closer to 1:1 by the sailing. Next year each of the 2 big companies are having competing cruises. VTG is having a 20's-40's cruise on RCCL while SC will have a 30's-40's on NCL and a separate 20's-30's on Carnival. Have no idea what the numbers will look like on those.

Hello,

I was thinking of going on the singles cruise on the Allure this year, but haven't looked into the age range yet, according to a few posts it's an older age group (I'm 30) but maybe this isn't true for the Halloween cruise? With several hundred people I thought there would be more of a mix but maybe someone who has been on a Halloween cruise (with SC) could weigh in?

Also, never heard of the 20-30s one on the getaway / is that a new company?

Thanks!

The SC is an all ages. I did Halloween last her with VTG since it was cheaper. The Getaway is through VTG but not listed on their site. Its super cheap ($968 for a solo inside and @$1200 for a solo balcony). I know the Getaway has @ 200 bookings, don't know where the Allure is. If you call either company they will give you the current numbers and ratios for the respective cruises.

I went ahead and nooked with the crowd on the Getaway, I have been on two hosted singles cruises but this will be my first with VTG and NCl so it should be fun, and also it seems I don't know anyone in the group as of yet so it will like the first time meeting a new crowd. Very muck looking forward to it and the all you can drink package.

I ended up booking with SC on the Allure, I asked and they really do have all ages going so thought I would give it a try. Hopefully will be fun! :-)

I was originally booked on that until the 20-40 year old decided to petition for their own cruise and everyone that I have sailed with has booked that one. That and there have been MASSIVE price drops on the Getaway (was able to get a mini suite with large balcony for only $1800 where as the superior balcony on Allure was $2600). I was on the Oasis last year. SC already has their theme nights out and some of them sound really fun, they even have brought back a cabin crawl, hopefully those don't get banned like they did on Carnival 2 years ago! Happy sailings!

Stay away unless you're desperate! They're basically for people that want an easy hookup and can't find a date or hookup in their city. I was on a cruise that had a singles group and they were a rough looking group to say the least.

I'm 42, fit and attractive. I am not desperate. I like the idea of a singles cruise because it's filled with like-minded people. If I go to a bar or any other place to meet women, they may or may not be single / looking for a partner. At least at a singles event (be it a cruise or other), everyone knows you're single and you know they're single too.

My biggest hesitation has to do with the fact that I no longer drink alcohol. I don't want to be on a boat stuck with a bunch of drunk people. I can party and have fun without booze... but don't want everyone to be hammered all the time.

I think your biggest problem would be whether to be on an over 40 or under 40 singles cruise If you are a conservative, try over 40 on one of nicer ships. It will not be a ship full of singles, a couple hundred at most .Not a drunken crowd at events.

I'm in a similar situation as you. I'm not a big drinker at all and the idea of sitting in a room full of drunken people in their 40's is not appealing at all

I have a question about the Big Two. Do they pass on freebies and discounts that the cruise lines themselves are offering (specials) at the time of booking, or do they keep them to and for themselves? Thanks in advance.

My friend and I just booked our first hosted singles cruise for June 13th on the Carnival Conquest. I am a past Carnival cruiser and asked if they would apply my casino rate. They said they could not do that :( Don't know if that helps!

Hi Everyone,

Please review our Guidelines carefully.

Quoting a portion of our guidelines:

"...There shall be no third-party recommendation (whether positive or negative in tone) of travel agencies on any forums within Cruise Critic. General discussions regarding the TYPE of AGENCY to be used to purchase a cruise will be allowed, as long as no recommendations for any source of purchase are posted.

Touting of your personal cruise agent or cruise line "personal cruise consultant" (or any other venue by which you purchase a cruise) is not allowed on our message boards. Postings that contain "tell them John sent you" will be removed without notice.

This means you should not ask about someone's travel agent, nor should you respond in kind. Offering to email someone your travel agent's name or info is also not allowed, nor is asking members to email you for the information.

It also means you cannot post links (Or Hints) to travel agencies, no matter what the specific reason.

Cruise Critic will remove violations of the "third-party recommendation" guideline without warning...

Please do not reply to this post. If you have any questions, feel free to email me by clicking on the link below. Thank you for your understanding.

I also like the idea of a singles cruise and I'm not really a drinker. It's not fun being among a bunch of drunks.

I don't know. Sometimes it can be pretty funny to be sober and with a "partner in crime" and watch the inebriated dancing or grabbing at furniture to help them steady themselves !
