Venice - sail away time confused

I've put this thread here rather on on the Port website as I was hoping past Carnival people may be able to help.

According to the itinerary the ship is due to sail at 2.30 on 29/07/13, yet on the tours part of my cruise scehdule, there is a tour to the Venician Islands that departs at 12.15 and lasts for 5 hours. Is it that we have to be back on the ship by 2.30, but the ship will sail later?

We are hoping to visit one of the islands, but on our own not with Carnival. Their tours are mega expensive. More expensive than Disney.

I suspect that it may be because embarkation is the day before the ship sails. Perhaps that excursion is for embarkation day for those who want to embark and then go out on a Carnival excursion during the day? Or perhaps it's listed for the city and available for the Legend which has a later sail away and not available for the Sunshine?

When I log into my cruise, this is the information that is showing. We can board on the 28/07 which is Sunday and the ship sails on Monday 29th at 2.30 according to my account on Carnival. So I am not sure why the tour is showing Monday 29/07. Looks like I will have to emails them. I suppose so long as we get up nice and early we can get to the Island and be back for around 1.00.

Does it show the same info in your account when you log in?

Are you sure you wish to do it as a ship excursion? I loved buying a valporetto pass and exploring inexpensively on my own schedule. we bought 24 hour passes the evening we arrived and set off on a late evening cruise on #1 down the grand canal...beautiful fall evening and the boat was uncrowded. the next morning we got an early start and did a fair bit of touring before sailing. of course you need to take some care to get back to the ship by the appropriate time, but an early start might help you see more.

Either the tour date is wrong or the departure time is wrong.

I haven't gotten to the point where I'm looking at excursions for our cruise yet, so I can't comment on what my account is showing for excursions.

If the OP is on the Sunshine, though, I'm pretty sure the departure time is right......well, at least it's the same departure time that's listed for our Sunshine cruise in October.

On our Sunshie cruise, there is a tour listed that departs after the ship does. Maybe that one is for pier runners.
