Question Hair appliances - Full size or Travel size?

A question for cruisers with long hair: Do you take mini/travel size curling irons, flat irons & hair dryers on your cruises or do you take your regular ones? What about high end flat irons..take 'em or buy a cheaper one to bring on board?
I'll be cruising on a Carnival ship that has no hair dryers. I know I can bring a power strip but I've read that sometimes they get confiscated. Will Carnival luggage screeners think I'm crazy and take my power strip away if they see a bunch of full size hair appliances in my luggage?

I take full size, Straighteners and ceramic rollers. My Hairdryer is a travel size though so I guess it depends on the appliance for me.

If i knew they didn't have a hairdryer than i would be bringing my large wet to straight, iron. I know ill have a hairdryer so ill just bring my medium straighter about 2 finger width one. On my trip 2 years ago i brought a mini straighter and it was useless. if you decide to being travel ones use them before you go, try out hair styles with them, to make sure they work. i didn't and so regretted it

The only problem I see with your plan is that several appliances used at once can blow the fuse not just for your cabin but the ones adjacent to you as well. Or (this has happened to me) a full sized dryer that is too strong for the current can shut itself down automatically, leaving you with 15 minutes to sit there while the appliance cools down and you can use it again for another 3 minutes. It's the reason I bought myself a good quality, lower wattage blow dryer.

I don't see a problem taking your full sized dryer or irons, just use them seperately, not at the same time.

I've seen threads where the power strip is confiscated, but when I see photos of the strip, it's not the travel sized power strip, but the full sized metal strips that contain 6 or more outlets. Many ships, especially older ones, are not wired to sustain that much power to the cabins. It's alos the real reason clothing irons are disallowed, most people think it's the heat.

Full-size....smaller appliances take longer to use....just bring what you're used to and what works!

Thanks everyone for all for the info! It definitely eases my mind to know I can bring all my usual hair tools. I'll make sure I get a mini power strip and probably a mini hair dryer, because my current one is a powerful ionic dryer and I don't want to blow a fuse! The ceramic curlers sound like a good idea. I may have to look into those...I love any reason to go out and get new hair stuff lol.
This will be my first cruise (still months away) and I am really looking forward to it. You all have been a big help

I use the ships hair dryer, only on formal nights. I'm a leave her wet kind of gal, whether in a pony tail, single braid or clipped up. I have long curly hair. Funny I rarely use hair appliances in my every day life.

I've never used a ship or hotel blow dryer that I liked. They either don't have enough heat/power or too much heat. Bringing my travel dryer along I know I have an appliance that works well.

I almost never carry a hair dryer - just use what's available in the hotel or ship, though I do have a travel dryer I like. I bring full size curling iron (I have US & Europe models - just happen to have the European one from when I lived overseas - if I were buying new, I'd buy a dual voltage) I typically try to avoid carrying appliances with me - only do it for business travel, and possibly a cruise (I think I'm 60/40 on that).

I've used a 1875 watt travel (folder handle) dryer with no problem.

Must be nice already having curls in your hair! I gotta rely on a curling iron for that

Thank you everyone for your answers, the more I learn, the better I feel about all this

Nice! I was looking into getting an 1875 watt ionic travel dryer. It's looking even better to me now

Travel size hair dryer, the ship dryer is no good for my thick, not pretty curly hair that has to be straightened to look decent. I have a travel size flat iron. It is ok since iit's only used for a few spots that need touch up. I hate that i need at least three brushes. Styling products are measured into disposable containers so I don't have to bring the empties home. I use the little plastic containers that salsa or salad dressing comes in when we have carry out.
