flight to Fll day before cruise...cruise from Miami questions

There are dozens of threads on those questions...they are discussed here daily.

It is commonly recommended to stay in FLL, as it is generally cheaper, then go to the port on your sailing day. 3 people is a borderline call...I think I would shuttle, as a shuttle is going to cost about as much as Uber, and no worries about the size of the vehicle, baggage fitting, etc.

Since you are arriving so early in the day, you are in a good position to take a shuttle. SAS and QLS, as well as a few others are frequently bandied about on this board. Some pick up from the airport and go directly to the cruise port. Others pick up from hotels and go to the port of Miami. Others pick up from FLL airport and go to Miami hotels. From my research, $15 per head seem to be the average price. Some shuttles only do pickups early in the day. We are in the same situation and have chosen to spend the night in Ft Laud the night before our cruise leaves Miami. The hotels are cheaper in Oct in Ft Laud than they are in Miami for the properties that interest us. However, if you are sailing in the spring, expect to get gouged at a Ft Laud hotel

Depends upon what you want to see/do during your free day. www.sunny.org has lots of FLL area tourist and hotel info, or check trip advisor for tthings to see & do in Miami or Miami Beach.

You do not want a rental car in Miami/Miami Beach - traffic and parking are horrible. You cna use the shuttles suggested above to get 3 plus bags from FLL to your downtown Miami or Miami Beach hotel, or you might be able to squeeze into an UberX with the approx. fare being between $30-40.

Plus most beach and well located hotels in both Miami/Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale charge for parking. Fort Lauderdale hotels seem to charge in the $25/night range; some of the Miami Beach hotels charge $40+/night.
