My first 'go to' company is always Tours By Locals. We have used them all over and really enjoy these tours. I have booked one for a Saigon tour for our October cruise. Unfortunately, the guides were booked in the other ports. Check them out and I hope you have a great trip.

Hey Johnny 34, read you are looking for a tour company - this company i used 3 years in a row, this year will be the 4th - the owner is Ngoan and her emal is ngoan.le@travelauthenticasia.com

Other emails: redriverdelta.homestay@gmail.com/ngoanxinh_2011@yahoo.com

Website: http://www.travelauthenticasia.com

She is in Vietnam , but will do tours for Thailand and Cambodia, you will not be disappointed. I tell her what we are interested in and always want lunch included and all admissions, makes i easy, no local currency. She wants to be paid ahead, will come into port area, but needs passport info, no problem, and bills each couple individually, so you don't have to collect if you have others in your group. Tell her what you want to see in each stop. You can tell her Rita sent you to her, and I guarantee she will take good care of you.

Rita k is you want to email me I am at kwarcins@gmail.com

We were on a Silversea cruise earlier this year which stopped in Myanmar. We booked a ships tour to Shwedagon Pagoda at night. We did the night tour because only bare feet (no socks) are allowed inside. The stone floors get so hot from the sun during the day that they can burn your feet.

for the Port of Danang or Chan May, I can highly recommend Tommy Dao Tours (Hoi An).

We have used him a number of times and always find him to be professional, courteous and lots of fun. He can take large numbers of people as he has a few different options of vehicles including a new large van.

You can contact him on tommyxuanha@gmail.com

or check out his facebook page:

Appreciate the great info and sharing on this thread. Love to see and read more specifics for Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Hong Kong. We are making plans for early 2018 to do a Mekong River cruise, plus stops in Hong Kong, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Sorry, we won't be able to make it to Myanmar, Malaysia or Singapore. This includes tour options and locations that most surprised people for the ways you loved those specific spots.

THANKS! Enjoy! Terry in Ohio

Enjoyed a 14-day, Jan. 20-Feb. 3, 2014, Sydney to Auckland adventure, getting a big sampling for the wonders of "down under” before and after this cruise. Go to:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1974139

for more info and many pictures of these amazing sights in this great part of the world. Now at 157,482 views for this posting.

We were on the Volendam a few months ago and went to Myanmar for the first time. A cruise critic friend had recommended a great guide with good English skills....and we followed his advice. We did not regret it and now, we would like to recommend this very good guide as well. We visited Rangoon (Yangon and Bago) during the 2 days we spent in port. It was tiring but we saw all the highlights. Tony was very knowledgeable, pleasant and thorough. This was a wonderful 2 day tour, absolutely amazing and professional. He can be reached at tonyhlashwe@gmail.com

I can highly recommend the Don Boscoe Hotel School for a day trip when you are in Sihanoukville.

They will meet you when you dock, and take you to a typical fishing village, some beautiful pagodas and temples, a local waterfall, and a beach. You will have a delicious lunch at the hotel, all prepared and served by local youngsters who are learning English and how to work in the hospitality sector. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

I second the Don Boscoe School. We did this a couple of years ago and loved it.
