Platinum Laundry Service Question

I am sailing on the Vista for 6 days the day after returning from the NCL Escape for a week. On the Vista, as part of my offer, I will be getting temporary Platinum VIFP status for this cruise. Rather than running home to do laundry in between cruises, I was thinking of staying in Miami and using the Platinum laundry benefit to wash my clothes on embarkation day. Will this be possible? When would the clean laundry be returned to me?

Cheers.

Embarkation day? Not going to happen. The entire crew is busting ass just to turn the ship around.

The next day? Give it to the room steward in the morning, should be back in your stateroom when you return from dinner.

While I'm not sure what "temporary platinum status" is, just tell your cabin steward you will have laundry and ask him or her if it's better to get picked up that night or the following morning on your first day at sea.

I usually get my laundry returned in 24 to 36 hours.

Currently on the Vista with free laundry. Sent out twice so far, picked up in the a.m. And back late at night.

Just be warned it is all hot wash and hot dry so don't send out anything that is not 'suitable' for that type of treatment!

Let me edit my previous comment.

Screen name and temporary Platinum status indicates that you might be in the travel industry and are professionally involved in some capacity for this cruise.

So, my edit is to say,,, ain't happening for us normal folks on embarkation day. Even us Platinums.

Not sure what professional courtesy they may extend to you.

thanks for clarifying. On longer cruises they draw quite a few platinums and diamonds and if that keeps happening next they will kick out platinums from the party.:eek:

Thank you. So, 10 days of underwear needed. Hmm...

Cheers.

Didn't happen to us. We were on a Sunshine Journey's cruise and there were a lot of D's and P's. What they did was hold 2 parties and invited half to one and the other half to the other one. Worked out great -- no crowding and quick bar service. :)

Be warned that in my experience, the laundry bags are not huge - its not unlimited. I am just turning platinum this cruise, but years ago when we cruised they offered discounted laundry and I used the bag. The Platinums and up can comment on what it will hold but I am thinking a few days of underclothes, socks and a few shirts. Jeans or men's slacks would almost fill a bag....

It's bigger than I thought but not huge. I included a pic in post #5. It's next to a Carnival towel that is folded in half longways for reference.

I saw that...can you comment on how many of what types of items it will hold? Was I about right? If memory serves it is paper so you can't stuff and stretch...

It is paper. I would say a few shirts, some socks, and underwear. Maybe also a pair of pants. It will really depend what size they are and how bulky. Someone recommended rolling your clothes to fit more. I haven't personally sent any out because I don't wash my things in blazing hot water which is what they do.

That doesn't bother me when its underwear socks etc. But I did get a good chuckle when my thongs were returned nicely folded...wasn't even sure that was possible!:D

Was on the Breeze a couple of weeks ago. Like firemanbobswife said, it depends on how big/bulky the clothes are. I'm a bigger man, and I was able to get one pair of jeans, 3 shirts and a couple of pairs of socks/underwear in one bag. And another bag, I got about 4 pairs of shorts, 1-2 shirts and some underwear. I did find that the key to getting more into the bag was to roll the clothes up as tight as you can.

We also agree with rolling up items. Since we sail with our sons, who are also Platinum, we combine the clothes, separating shirts, shorts (slacks if needed), underwear, and socks. We use one or two folio numbers depending on the number of bags, marking the bags "Platinum," and roll up the clothes with bulkier items in the bottom of each bag and lighter items at the top.

We're not Platinum yet, but have used the laundry service when they ran a special. We were able to get pair of jeans, couple pair of shorts, 4 t shirts, & various undies into the bag all rolled tightly then taping bag shut.

Not to highjack this thread, but how many bags of laundry do Platinum get per cruise? I know it depends on length of cruise & I am assuming if hubby & I are both Platinum it would be doubled.

Complimentary Wash & Fold laundry service

2 bags on 3 – 6 day cruises,

3 bags on 7-12 day cruises,

5 bags on a 12+ day cruises

This is per person so yes if you are both Platinum, it will be doubled.
