The best place to ask this question about the Emerald Princes types of cabins is on the Princess board here:

Normally, the difference is location. Midship cabins tend to be pricier than cabins in the front or aft.

If you blindfolded me and put me in a cabin I would have absolutely no idea if I were midship, forward, or aft, as would most anyone else. People have it in their heads that one room is better than the other. As for midship bring more convenient.....come on, you're just as likely to have to walk from your midship room all the way forward or to the aft of the ship, as while I am in my room at the front of the ship and I don't have to walk to the main show lounge in the front of the ship.

You might notice a difference between midship and forward or aft if the seas are rough - more so if you are prone to being seasick. That's why midship cabins are quite often more expensive. For someone new to cruising who doesn't know if they might have problems with motion sickness midship and lower down is probably a good idea.

To the original poster ..... it might be easier to respond to your question if we knew what ship or cruiseline you are planning to cruise on.

IF it is on Princess, BA cabins are on the Caribe deck, on all but "the small ships", and those balconies are midship, and like all Caribe balconies, they are larger .... 9x9'
vs 9X5'. Also they are half covered, offering some protection from rain /too much sun.
