Southampton to Heathrow transport

On behalf of friends can anyone advise of a reliable transport from Southampton post cruise to Lomdon Heathrow. They are due to catch a 1250pm flight home to USA. They dock at Southampton approx 0700am , and it's a Monday morning.

But given the time-frame I'd be inclined to avoid the National Express coach.

To make the 07.45am coach (scheduled arrival Heathrow 10.10am) your friends would have to disembark unassisted (haul their own luggage from their cabin) about 7am.

The next coach (09.45) is scheduled to arrive Heathrow 11.55am, far too tight for a 12.50 flight.

Ship's own transfer coaches will be fine, generally rated OK for flights after 12/12.30.

But they can be over-priced - last I heard Princess were charging a reasonable $60 per person, RCI were charging $100.

Check out their cruise line's transfer charges & compare them against quotes for a private transfer.

Your friends will need a departure from the port about 8.00 am to give a good window for the inevitable delays on a monday morning.

OP: I'll save you a lot of looking through those other threads -- Smith's for Airports, which is based in Southampton, is terrific. Based on recommendations here on CC (probably a lot of those other threads :)), we used them this past fall to take us from central London to Southampton. They were really easy to deal with by email to set things up, their driver was waiting for us when we arrived in London, and, as an extra bonus, was a delightful companion on the drive to Southampton. We'd definitely use them again.
