Disembarking in San Juan - Luggage storage available?

We are taking NCL Gem NYC to SJU in October.

We arrive pretty early and since we're close to so much at the port we thought we'd take in some sites before heading to our hotel, which is way over by the airport. (and we can't check in until later.)

Does anyone know if we can check our bags somewhere at the terminal and get them later so we're not dragging them around until we head to the hotel?

Thanks!

There's a restaurant called Barrachina that will hold your luggage while you walk around the old city. A lot of people on these boards have used them (not me) and have nothing but good things to say about them. Just relaying some info...

Walking to Barrachina from the port is easy but be aware that it's a bit of an uphill trek. It should take you about 10 minutes. Once you decide to make your way to the airport, there is a taxi stand around the corner about half a block from Barrachina.

I got back Sunday and followed all the wonderful suggestions on this thread.

Thank you everyone for the invaluable information!

I got off the ship and walked directly to the restaurant. The guy knew exactly why we were there. He escorted us to a large back room and told us to leave our luggage there. He counted them, wrote the number on a receipt and had me sign it. He gave me a copy and we were off to the Fort.

We got hungry and went back to Barrachina for lunch. It is a lovely restaurant, with a bar and a strolling singer. BTW the Pina Colada was invented here! :)

We continued to explore OSJ. We went back to retrieve our bags and left a tip in the large jar. The taxi stand was at the corner.

This is a wonderful, free service that makes it possible for tourist to enjoy OSJ!
