Biking in Costa Maya

I know some of the cruise lines have biking tours or biking/ kayaking tours. When we were there eight years ago we rented bikes on our own just outside the walled in swimming pool. Are bikes still available for rent locally like that? Thanks,

Leave the port and take a taxi from outside. $2 per person each way. Tell the driver to take you to Karlita's internet cafe. It is located at Calle Cherna and the football field. (Campo de futbol, whatever that is) The owner's name is Otto and he is from the US. If the driver does not know Karlita's, just tell them Otto's. All know him. They rent bikes for $10 US a day I think. Beach cruisers. You are already close to the beach road that goes south from town and the best bike road in the area. Goes for miles with sparse small hotels and beach bars every half mile or so after you leave town. Easy flat road. Take towells for stopping to swim and a few bucks for beers along the way. Beaches are uninhabited so many are beautiful with perfect blue water but lots of trash too so be aware. Very safe area so no worry there. Great day.

the area you are speaking about Karlita's - is this near Malecon or Mahahual? could we rent the bike and then see that area or is Karlita's further south from there?

It's in Mahahual a block off the malecon. Almost diagonally across from the now old site for 100% Agave. Cherna is the 3rd cross street down from the lighthouse along the street taxis drive to the malecon. There 's a taxi stand at Sierra and the malecon, one block before where taxis drop off people heading to Tropicante. Just tell the taxi you want to go to the football field.
