Welcome to cruising and to the Fred Olsen forum, weemax.

This thread is from the Thomson Forum. I am sure they will not mind me borrowing it as they are a very friendly and help bunch of people. :). There are lots of good ideas but some may not be specific for a Fred cruise.

My wife and I are booked on the Boudicca on the 20th Sept from Newcastle. This will be our first cruise. Is there any tips for a couple of first timers that's worth noting.

If it's your first ever cruise, I would say that you have picked a good choice of ship! It's not a huge floating tower block - it's a very traditional ship and all the public areas are lovely, the staff are friendly, the entertainment is good & the food is very good too.

The Canary Islands & Madeira are a good choice for cruising destinations too (haven't been to the Azores!)

I am sure you will have a lovely time.

I always, always take a small 3 or 4 plug extension plug - what with phones and cameras to charge and hairdryers etc one plug is never enough and cabin plugs are usually tucked away in silly places. It also means both of you have 'juice' when you need it.

Actually one now lives permanently in my suitcase.

I also take 2 little greeting cards that I use as thank you cards for our cabin person and waiters and write something personal in it with a tip on our last night/as we depart.

Fab choice of first cruise - expect to become hooked!
