Vancouver Days Inn Downtown - wine shop nearby?

We're flying in from the east coast and HAL allows 2 bottles in the stateroom without corkage fees. So, we need to buy wine!!! Few questions:

Anyone know of a liquor / wine store near Days Inn Downtown?

Assuming will need to buy a corkscrew or some of that "fancy" wine with a twist off top...correct?

Thanks!!!

Approximately 2 1/2 blocks west of the Hotel, there is the Coal Harbour Liquor store on Pender Street.. http://coalharbourliquorstore.com/

It's an easy walk.

Unless a particular wine you want is very fancy and not available in large enough volumes for BC Liquor to stock it, when a private store would be your only option, I'd rather save money at the BC Liquor stores than shop in any of the downtown private liquor spots (while there seem to be one or two suburban places who are willing to undercut BCL on high volume items, the downtown core stores jack prices up as much as 30% above provincial store rates).

Closest BC Liquor is Harbour Centre, (enter on Cordova, opposite side from Waterfont Station) - less than 700 yards walk. If you're not fussy about your wine, just browse the shelves - if you are picky, check in advance what's in stock on the BCL website (the Signature Store on Bute is only a couple of hundred yards further and has a much wider range).

In addition to a wider selection at the Bute Signature store

  • I like the extended evening and weekend hours.
  • Bute's Signature store location is a great place to stop by after dining at the many Robson street restaurants.
