Can you book an aft cabin for 3 with only 2 people?

Recommended Posts

I had an aft cabin on the mariner and I loved it. I did have 3 of us in the cabin. I would love to book the same cabin for next year but there would only be 2 of us. do they allow you to book a specific cabin for only 2 people when it holds 3? Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks

Sue

Book any cabin you want. They dont care if there are only 2 people in a triple or quad cabin at all. the only ones you might have trouble with are handicap cabins.

We have an aft corner. We were told to book our son in with us, even though he will be moving across the hall with his sisters. I think if there is a popular stateroom like the corner aft that is larger and can hold 3-4, two people can be bumped out. There have been reports of it on this board.

I had a different experience. Last summer, while cruising on the Enchantment, I tried to book an aft cabin on Adventure for Summer '04. The booking was for my husband and me. The computer system would not let the onboard RCI rep book the cabin for me. She followed up with "real people" at RCI and we were informed by email when we returned home that 2 people could not book a cabin that could hold more people. We were really disappointed. So we booked the cheapest inside cabin available. icon_smile.gif

How can they bump you? We have a G/S aft (1600) booked for Alaska next year. I have waited forever to get this particular room for the 2 of us. I would be devastated if they bumped me... icon_redface.gif

Same here, JB! My fiance and I booked 7688 on the Mariner for 5/2. It sleeps 3. That would almost ruin our honeymoon if we got bumped from this cabin, especially since there aren't any balcony cabins left!

Thanks!

Peggy

it really seems to be an aft problem. My two girls are booked in an inside quad and nothing was said about them being booted if needed. We will eventually have my son in that stateroom when he moves from ours. However, when we tried to book the corner aft 1688 for two of us, we were told that we needed to book one of the children in with us so that we didn't lose the stateroom if more than two people needed it.

I'm confused. I'm booked in 1388 (aft corner) for two people on the NOS for 10/23/04. I booked the cabin 14 months in advance, as soon as it came available, received a physical printout from RC showing the cabin number, total amount, deposit amount, etc., and was never told anything about the possibility of being bumped for more people. The printout I received is a form of a contract because it shows a deposit has been made to hold a specific cabin number. If RC wants to bump me from that particular cabin, they would be violating the terms of that contract, and if they gave me anything less than an upgrade to a suite, they would be looking for a lawsuit. Because of all the negativity on this board about RCI the past few months, I have decided to switch lines after this cruise. If it weren't for the particular cabin I am getting on my next cruise, I would cancel it and sail with someone else. So if they bumped me from this cabin, that would be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Until NOS Sailing 10/23/04

Several cruises, but why list them when no one cares?

Get in touch with your TA. Tell them in no uncertain terms you want to stay in this cabin and do not want an upgrade. I know on Celebrity some people had the same problem with corner afts (billed as family staterooms). They were "upgraded" without their permission and had to have their TA fight like "heck" to get their cabin back. It probably will be fine, but just alert your TA to your wishes.

When we booked Marine while onboard Voyager last year, we had to put 3 in our cabin in order to get the aft we wanted (not a problem since we are taking the kids, but we figured it would be a lower deposit). We had only the two of us on Voyager, but we were told that at the busier times of year they have restrictions on booking 2 people into a 3/4 person cabin. (We were on Voyager in September, our next cruise will be June).

And our cruise will be in July...busy time.

lvcruiser - You will probably be fine. Our TA booked us the way she did as a precaution. I think you will find the same negativity on any of these boards about all cruiselines. I hope you will change your statement once you have cruised the NOS. icon_smile.gif

As for lawsuits, I am sure there is something in the fine print about RCCL reserving the right to change, cancel and make adjustments in your cruise papers to protect them from lawsuits. Keep a positive attitude and hope you get to keep your stateroom. icon_wink.gif
