What is the least amount of money you have spent once on your cruise?

My husband and I each bought the soda package onboard he Allure over Thanksgiving. We also got 60 minutes of wifi. We ended up with a $150 onboard credit for the late arrival to St. Thomas. Our credit card was credited $11 and change when we got off the ship!

We could have easily gone without those things though had we needed to.

We took an unexpected cruise and had very little to spend on it....we planned the whole 5 day cruise for under 1,000 including driving from Indiana. Dh ended up working some overtime and so we splurged on flights, but our bill at the end was under 10 bucks since we both got one drink.

We prepaid our gratuities on our recent Jewel cruise and ended up with a bill of $11. I did book and pay for Portofino online before we went though. Onboard credit covered a few drinks and the soda package, along with a bunch of 1$ bar tips.

We have actually spent minus $236 on a 14 day cruise. One can do this on Celebrity if it is booked properly. We had a veranda cabin with the Classic Drink Package, our Elite Plus benefits, and pre-paid gratuities (paid by our cruise agency) and a $250 On Board Credit.. The $14 was for lunch at he Bistro on 5 (an alternative venue). We spend zero dollars at our 9 ports because DW and I decided to simply make it a "cruise to nowhere" and stay on the ship. We have been to the Caribbean many times, so other then going to a familiar beach there was no reason to get off the ship. A couple of days before the end of the cruise we decided to use our remaining $236 OBC by having dinner in Qsine (for which we negotiated a 25% discount) and the remainder used to purchase DW a necklace for Xmas.

This is a tough one, "Most" money spend on a cruise would be easier...

I don't know how you guys manage to spend so little. I always think we spend very little then when I look at the tv I am $400+ in the red. Sigh

It has never been our goal to deny ourselves a drink or trinket or whatever that we wanted while vacationing. What fun is it to analyze each dollar you spend throughout your vacation? Of course, we know our limits and don't spend more than we intended but it would be awful to analyze whether to have another glass of $7 wine...... at least for me it would not be enjoyable.

Just curious, is it possible to virtually spend no extra money once on board your cruise. Not taking into account port days.

Yes. On one of our shorter cruises we spent NO extra money, other than casino.

We did not have OBC but since we bought no drinks, no photos, no excursions, no internet, and did not play Bingo, the only charges on our shipboard account were the daily gratuities.

Since we now take longer cruises we buy an internet package, have an occasional drink and sometimes take ship excursions so we now have charges on our account. But it is possible to do, even without OBC.

The last cruise I took with my sis on the final day I had a $0 balance on my account. Or so I told dh!! Had a great time and the last afternoon won BIG at the casino. So before the end of the evening I went down to the front desk and paid off my on board account!!1 HEHE!

No really we always spend money onboard. After all we are on Vacation.

Gotten refunds on several cruises. We always pre-pay tips as well as get onboard credits and such.

Throughout sailings we constantly check our account so there is never a surprise on the last day.

My sister doesn't spend a dime on board. Literally- not one extra dime! She prepays gratuities and she does not drink or gamble. Me? Not so much... I like a drink now and then, like to visit the casino a bit.... often buy a few things in the shops, always go to Johnny Rockets or other extra fee venues. My bill scares my sister. She would hyperventilate if she ever saw my bill when I go with my husband and kids! Ironically she is very comfortable financially. She doesn't have to be a penny pincher at all. She just can't help it! I make up for her lack of on board spending.

Yes it's possible. Most of the time my on board bill is $0.00. ( always prepay gratuities )

We could easily spend $0 on board; we don't drink or gamble, I'm not enticed by anything in the shops and hate the spas.

We do always prepay grats, and usually give extra to the room steward. Since we almost always have some OBC, the few things we do buy (some internet time and a couple of pictures, usually) come off of that.

We just got back from a 14 day cruise; we had $525 in on board credit and were refunded over $300 of it on our credit card. All we bought were pictures and internet time.

After quite a few cruises, we enjoy the cruise experience and the ports and just don't care so much about spending extra on board. We don't deprive ourselves, we just don't care for a lot of what is for sale. We do spend money on independent excursions in some ports, just DIY in others.

Everyone has their own way of vacationing, and unless you are spending money you don't have, it's just an individual preference, no right or wrong either way.

If everyone on board was this disciplined in their discretionary spending the cruise lines would have to raise fares significantly or go out of business.

When the vast majority spend almost zero cruise lines cut time in ports (saves fuel), cut the food budget (seafood becomes pasta) and cut onboard entertainment (sell the cabins rather than give them to the presenters). It's just Economics 101.

Does this diminish your enjoyment? Maybe not if just getting away for a low cost vacation is your priority. Or maybe it does if your lastest sailing has cutbacks compared to your earlier one.
