Default Question about Early Saver vs Super Saver

I first must say I don't understand how this price protection thing works, so I'm looking for some clarification. I booked our 4 night cruise via Early Saver. So far the price has not dropped, but the Super Saver is $25pp less. Can I put in for that as a price drop? What would that do to my booking, if anything?

Thanks for helping the uninformed girl.

You can put in for any price reduction you qualify for, but in some cases you will lose you're guaranteed room assignment. Super saver is one of them. So yes you can put in for it, but will lose you're room

Okay, but maybe that isn't such a bad thing? So long as it's an OV, is it that big a deal? Maybe I'll be a deck lower....
I shall ponder.

You're welcome, whatever category you are booked in, you won't drop below that. So if you booked a balcony you won't drop to OV. If you decide it's not worth it now, but the price drops even more, if you are pretty close to sailing, and as long as you willing to take that chance you might lose you're room, you can submit the price protection form . There is a possibility you will keep your room, I took that chance last year, and I kept my room.

The answer actually depends on when you booked your cruise. The new price structure went into effect on Dec. 3, 2012.

According to carnival's website:

Is the price protection policy the same for new and existing Early Saver bookings?

No. New and existing Early Saver bookings both have price protection up to 2 days prior to sailing. However new Early Saver business cannot be protected to Super Saver, Instant Saver, or any fare that does not offer cabin assignment or any rate not publicly advertised on Carnival.com.

The policy for existing Early Saver business is slightly different in that they can be protected to Super Saver and Instant Saver fares. Please note if existing Early Saver guests want to be protected to Super Saver or Instant Saver they will be required to forfeit the stateroom they selected and we will assign their stateroom at check in.

So, above, "new" means cruises booked on or after Dec. 3, 2012, and "existing" means cruises booked prior to Dec. 3, 2012.

That all might be true, but it's not in the terms and conditions yet

I booked ES after Dec 3 and was unable to get OBC for Super or Instant rate price drops.
