Today's Azamara Email (5/27/16)

Hi Everyone,

I presume this is the annoucement we speculated on recently. Wish there were more details, but I signed up. Perhaps Bonnie will have more to share with us.

I hunk they have started the overnight trips from New Zealand to Europe. While on Quest there was an overnight trip for about 36 hours. I heard only good things about it. I know there are more coming up for future cruises. Not sure about the rest of the email. I have not receive it yet. I do get my emails from AZ.

Seriously, this move will interest us if the price is right. We are doing it on a Middle East cruise and hope it will enhance our overall destination experience.

Bonnie, one suggestion, we are so frustrated about the on board credit/land discoveries credit issue. We fully understand why overnights need to be booked and paid in advance but were less happy to be unable to use land discoveries credit for them. Might these overnights, which are lower volume numbers and usually have much earlier cancellation deadlines be the place for Azamara to start testing ways to take on board/land discoveries credit in advance of boarding. It would be a win win in my mind

you were not on for the NZ cruise and there was a trip from or to Milford Sound by bus that slept overnight in Queeenstown.. i had been in most of the area in the past and skipped it. I know the land discoveries person loved it. .but very little few time to wander on your own. also I notice some are coming up for 2016 or 2017. .no dates on website.

 

Seriously, this move will interest us if the price is right. We are doing it on a Middle East cruise and hope it will enhance our overall destination experience.

Ann- I find that would booking several cruises I never remember which ones now include the OBC.. The first page of the bill I get on ship shows it but once i get "my AZ" updated i rarely save them. Mine seem to be 200$$ and like most people pre book or go late the first day to turn tickets in or the next day. right now i have to exchange tickets as i got private tours now.. i can see that money being toss away..

 

i wish there was an email sent out a month pout saying you had OBC for tours only or a letter on your bed reminding you to use this credit. I tend to use my OBC buying wine or going to get nails done.

 

maybe one day Mia will change this rule for the best. this is not the only cruiseline that making you use OBC fro tours.. I am throwing some away next winter

No I was not on that tour but I did it with Celebrity several years ago - I think you missed the point of my comment never mind!

There is always a letter delivered to your room reminding you about your credit and another one issued about any remaining balance near the end. I've no issue having credit restricted to tours, just not being able to use it to book before boarding.

Many of us can't really afford to toss away our OBC, probably because we had the maxim waste not want not drummed into us.

I have recieved the letters on my bed.. this June or Dec -I will now have OBC to use only fpr tours. .since like many people I booked cruises so far out i do not know when that restriction will start for me.Also like most of us I pre book tours.. I ma sure I can find a tour or two.. but like you and others I wish we could use it to pre book tours. for June i tours to cancel due to finding great private tours.. I figure i can always take the after 5 tours to use up credit.

I think the OBC is getting overly complex with at least 3 types of OBC (refundable, non refundable, excursion only). If it is going to be this complex I would rather they discounted the cruise price an appropriate amount and did away with them.

We have a£300 obc per cabin ( we have 3 cabins ) for our cruise in Jan 2017. How do we know what we can use it for . Do we have to wait until we board . Thanks

Depends what it was for. If it's the early booking benefit ( for booking 10 months or more before cruise) then it's only for Land Discoveries and they can't be booked until you get on board.

We were given our obc as we should have been on the Quest but she went in for her refit and we booked Journey in January .

Really don't know - best bet is to get in touch with Azamara. As you're from the UK might be worth emailing Richard Twynam -RTwynham@azamaraclubcruises.com, giving him the details of your cruise including booking reference. I have always foundling and his staff very helpful.

We are also waiting to book our land discovery tours until we are onboard so we can use our OBC. This is really frustrating. I would love to see at least a test program to give everyone a choice to either pay now or use OBC to pay for excursions.

I have just spoken to a very nice lady and was told that our OBC can be used for everything except the casino . Very happy with her response .
