Default Back from Magic Nov25 - Any ship questions?

Got back from a great cruise on the Magic a couple days ago. Ahh it's so nice to cruise again!

As a solo, I was in room 11286 [or was it 11268?] which is actually a wheelchair accessable room - Got no idea why I was assigned that room, except maybe because it's a 1A type with bunk beds.

The cruise director was James, who really poured on his British charm.

I'm happy to answer any ship based questions about food, entertainment, decor etc upcoming Magic cruisers may have. Can't give much advice on ports though.

Long answer short: You'll love the Magic!

Welcome back!

Know anything about the fitness classes or the gym? Most posts relate to food and drink! It's the middle of marathon season for me so I hope to stay in shape *somewhat* while on the Magic over Christmas. But don't plan to run 183.4 loops of the running track while on board (to make 26.2 miles).

But on the topic of eating...how about the wait time for the dining room in the evening? Although I imagine being solo it would be easier to get in quicker if you did anytime dining. A bit concerned about the crowds for the shows, also. Were the theaters packed?

Thanks!!

What dining room did you eat in? Which would you prefer? Also, why was the entertainment at night?

Luckenbach: Can't vouch for the gym or the spa routines. I did notice a number of people doing the running track. Be warned, at sea it's extremely windy on the open decks.

You'll find free workout gear on deck 12 aft near the basketball court.

YTD lines [Northern Lights] seemed quite long as people were lining up at 5:30 but that may just be the early crowd. I took traditional dining though. Also long lines for the comedy brunch offered on sea days. Note: No more traditional MDR lunch available for sea days, it's just the comedy brunch now.

Shows - Plenty of seats in the main theatre but you need to be in early if you want the good seats down front. The most packed show was naturally the welcome aboard show. I highly recommend attending Destination Unknown [the magic show]. Very impressive!

The comedy shows on sea days were quite full. These are in the lounge on deck 5 aft. Family friendly shows are earlier, adult are later - Adult usually just meaning more cussing haha.

Derek: I had late seating in Southern Lights. Can't vouch for the Northern Lights, but the service I got was excellent. Our Maitre'd also was quite friendly and got into the spirit. Darwin, the singing waiter, has an amazing voice.

The smaller tables are on deck 4 of the dining rooms. If you have YTD you'll be in Northern Lights [north entrance]. As warned, early lines are long for that. The comedy brunch is also in the NL.

Why was the entertainment at night? Well that's typically the time for the shows and such. Normally there are 2 seatings in the main theatre: 7PM for the late diners and 9PM for the early [times approx].

If there's only 1 show it'll typically be at 10:15.

It is just my wife and I? I heard that one of the dining rooms has glass around one of the floors. Is that true? If so, which dining room? This cruise is a 1 year anniversary present.

Derek: That'd be Northern Lights, deck 4 [AKA the upper level].

You won't get a view though, the glass only shows a view of the Lower Magical Way corridoor.

I don't know if you can help me here but my 6 year old son would love the ropes course but do you know if there is a height requirement?

Okiegirl: Both the ropes course and the waterslide have a minimum height requirement. Obviously wasn't a problem for me, but I think it was about 3ft or somewhere thereabouts. 6 might be too young?

The supervisors won't let your child on if he's too short.
