I heard traffic could be bad so trying to gauge how soon to leave for port. And is cab the fastest way?

Depends on the time of day. Traffic backs up on the bridge between 4:30 and 6:30. Getting over the bridge and back to port can take the good part of an hour. Otherwise, it's about 20 minutes. All back roads, since main roads are one way leading to Atlantis. Not back to the ship

Take the water taxi. Or talk to the fishermen that have boats by the port. We actually had a fisherman take us to the water taxi terminal on paradise island for $5 each. It was much more fun than taking a normal taxi.
