Have we cruzed Enuf-Too many?

Strange feeling after stepping off The Sunshine last Sunday. Was pretty glad to be going home.

17 cruzes under our belt. Since then my wife and have spoken a few times about "It just didn`t take" We`re not going again for a while.

The cruz components were all there-Good service, weather, ports and food.

Now looking at a Costa Rica mobile land vaca in spring.

Was just wondering if anybody else ever felt this way??? Is there a magic number?

No idea which cruise lines you've sailed, or which itineraries you've done. You could not have done them all....

Be that as it may, my wife I took a break from cruising and did some all-inclusive resorts for awhile. They're great to do. However, we did miss the atmosphere of being on a ship. When we got back to cruising we did a Carnival cruise and then 2 Celebrity. We now have a Carnival (this year) and Celebrity (next year) cruise booked.

So sometimes taking a bit of a "vacation' from your normal vacation breathes new life into cruising. :)

We felt that way last January when we went on the Conquest. There was something just "off" from the start. We were so looking forward to it since we had gotten married on her on our first cruise. Between the food poisoning and the general blah feeling out and about on the ship, I had never been so happy to finally go home. It made me really sad that the ship that started it all could be such a disappointment.

It has not deterred me from cruising, however as I have been back on a ship (the Glory) 2 times after that and getting ready to go on number 3 in May.

When you feel that, it's time to mix it up. Switching lines did that for us, making cruising fresh again.

My number seems to be 42 cruises. Not happy with all the changes with Carnival and things are not the same in the cruise feeling department, it gets old. We did 4 last year and time to stay home this year

Mix up the cruise line. We cruise RCCL, NCL and Carnival and are looking into Princess. We LOVE the ocean and the ability to see lots of ports, but sometimes the line gets stale so we switch it up for a while.

When it comes to travel, I think variety is a very good thing. I would love to do some other types of trips, and occasionally do manage to squeeze in a land vacation. Cost is however a huge factor in my choice of travel vacations, and while I have always had a very good experience on Carnival and the other two lines, I do crave to do something different at times, either different cruise line, or a land vacation. So I think what you are feeling is perfectly normal, and you know that when you are ready, there will be a cruiseline/ship waiting to take your money:p Whatever you choose for your next vacation have a wonderful one:)

I have been cruising for about 12 years now. I still love it and I have my next one already booked. I had an opportunity to do an all inclusive late last year. I wasn't sure if I would like it but it was great. I still love cruising and I will continue to cruise Carnival. I will also do land all inclusive vacations probably every other year. I still prefer cruising and will probably be doing more cruises than land all inclusives.:cool:

That's what we've been doing...Carnival has gotten "old" for us, and same old, same old, so we've been trying/will be trying some other lines. That's made a BIG difference!:)

My last cruise on the Freedom two weeks ago was not my best. The Guest Services staff do not know what they are doing and some were rude. We had a bad urine smell in our bathroom that took 3 days to get resolved. I also had an issue with my sail and sign card that took 4 trips to Guest Services to get resolved. I am hoping my next cruise on the Valor and my May cruise on the Freedom are better.

I have been cruising since 1976, but not all my vacations have been cruises.

We mix it up with camping, road trips in the USA, land vacations in Europe, Canada, Central and South America.

You become more mellow about cruising, realize it is about relaxing and enjoying one's self and being at sea.

Perhaps you have outgrown the Carnival experience and need to step it up to a different level of cruising (i.e, not NCL or Royal Caribbean which are also geared to entry level cruisers).

We haven't been on enough cruises to get tired of it but by day 7 I'm ready to go home. We usually can't afford other cruise lines so we have mostly booked Carnival. Still, it is always new in some area or other. Maybe mix it up a bit and/or wait awhile before going again.

I agree with others about mixing up the cruise lines. I have been cruising since 1980, and now that I'm retired, I usually go on longer cruises. I don't get as excited as I used to, but I do get excited to see new ports on a vehicle that let's me see several in a certain period of time.

I've been to Australia twice, and looking forward to 2 Med and TA on the Vista next year. There is no way I could go on cruises that went to the same Carib ports over and over. But some people like that.

I am going on Disney in Jan with daughters and grandkids, and I am very excited for this one. A new cruise line and a chance to enjoy it through my grand children's eyes.

Some say they can't afford anything but Carnival, but sometimes that means, rather than every year, go every 18-24 months and try something new. There are some really fun and unique ships out there, and they may just bring back that cruising love.

My wife and I have had the same conversation. However, every time we take a weekend trip and have to pack and repack and guess which diner is best we know that cruising is our cup of tea. We have been on 45+ cruises and my wife rarely leaves the boat. Furthermore, we are aft balcony lovers so we do not have the hassles that are so often found around the noisy pool. She reads a novel a day; thank you Kindle. I gamble and eat way too much!

So we have had this conversation. We, after this next Princess cruise, will be Elite, and are Platinum on Carnival and RCL. So...we have learned to mix up the cruise providers. We like HA and have had a couple with them. We cruise 4 times a year as a break from the practice. So we cannot do the 6 star Crystal, et al. But we are fine with what we get.

The food, casino, ports, the travel at night taking us to the next port are what we like. I couldn't stand looking at the same beach every day. So... take other vacations,leave the cruise Kool-aid for us, it goes down fine!

DW and I have now spent nearly 4 years of our lives on cruise ships (as passengers). While we do not really know how many cruises we have taken (lost count after the first 50+) we do know that we have cruised on 14 different cruise lines, more then 50 different ships, cruised to or around 6 continents (have not been to Antarctica) and visited about 100 countries (on both cruises and land trips). And despite cruising at least 70 days a year we are not tired of cruising. Why? Because we mix it up between lines, ports, continents, etc.

So perhaps the OP needs to heed their feelings, but instead of stopping cruises consider changing lines, size of ships, itineraries, etc.

We cruised 10 years straight on 3 lines then I felt ready for a change. So we spent 4 years on land trips until last year when I felt ready to cruise again so cruised Carnival Breeze B2B and this year we will cruise Oasis of the Seas B2B. Then I am planning a land trip for 2016.

I agree with mixing it up between cruise lines and cruise and land trips.

OP the description of how you felt getting off your last cruise is exactly how I felt and made me decide to take a 4 year break from cruising.

I say it is your time to mix it up. If you do mix it up and decide you miss what you are used to, you can go back to doing that next time.

I live in Plant City, we go to Homosassa for our mix it up vacations. We love it up there. MacRae's, The Shed, The Freezer, Neon Leons and who can forget the Seagrass (cook your catch). You have to love living in central Florida there are so many great things to do within a two hour drive. Not to mention cruise terminals.

I could cruise exclusively however my hubby prefers all inclusive. We alternate a cruise one year and an all-inclusive the next. Only downfall is it takes me longer now to become Platinum

Hubby feels the same way...been there, done that. It's common enough! So, go do other things! There IS more to life than cruising....maybe not on THIS site, but in the real world!

I don't think it's the cruises that I'm getting tired of but it's more of being tried of the Caribbean. I've come to the conclusion that if you been to 1 port you've been to them all with just minor differences in the cultures and food. So I've decided to not do the Caribbean for awhile after my upcoming Paradise cruise that my mom wanted to do. So I switched it up and am doing Alaska in June, and will sail Vista in the Mediterranean next year. I'm also going to add land portions to both Alaska and Europe as well. To me the Caribbean has just become repetitive and kind of boring. I would be willing to explore the southern Caribbean as I haven't been there but the nothern/western/eastern Caribbean all seem the same to me now.

So my opinion is maybe switch up the itinerary before giving up on cruising for awhile. I've been on the big 3 cruise lines and just prefer Carnival over all so as long as they are able to offer me something new I will keep coming back, but when all the destinations become repetitive I will have to look for something new altogether.

My late DH and I sailed over 90+ cruises and though he is now very sadly gone, I expect I will cruise again.

Throughout all our cruising years, we always mixed it up with city stays, land resorts, other travel including Europe. We also cruised more than just Caribbean though we never tired of Caribbean. After being in most of the islands so many times, we often either didn't leave the ship or went ashore briefly for a nice walk or lunch etc We love being on a ship, the ship board lifestyle/vacation style.

No, perhaps you have said the same ships, cruise line or itinerary too much? Or perhaps with the same people?

My DH and I have been on about 14 cruises, 11 together with around 7 different cruise lines. We've been on a ship that held just over 100 passengers and another that had around 3500 and others in-between. Alaska, Med, East and West Carib, CA coast, Mexico and Hawaii have all been sailed. We've also gone just the two of us, with our 2 kids, and with extended family and friends of up to 14 people. We also stay in different cabin types each time and try different activities.

No, we have not cruised enough-at all.

I suggest you mix it up, which can be as simple as taking different people with you.

For me, cruising is missing a little "something." I guess because I am of a certain age, I miss the glamour of old-style cruising. But I still love it, and I will continue as long as I am able.
