Can you walk to a beach from port?

Any beach.... does not need to have all the amenities...

I don't recommend you walk. I can't think of any beach that is within a reasonable walking distance from the port. I suggest you either take a water taxi and ask to be dropped off on Grand Anse or take a taxi to my favourite beach, BBC. If you really want privacy and relaxation then I suggest a taxi to La Sagesse.

La Sagesse is very nice and scenic and all..

but it's a bit on the remote side, and if you're just one girl all by yourself

I wouldn't choose that one

unless it's a bunch of y'all (two couples together?).

You could try to get a bunch of like-minded ppl together on your ship

- half-fill a van and make it worthwhile for everyone, even the driver

who will come back for you at a pre-appointed time. ;)

It is at least a good 30minute drive to La Sagesse and that is not counting getting out of town. I love the place but if you are on a Princess visiting for half a day (why do they only come for half a day?) you will need to be up and off the boat asap to avoid crowds, gridlock and get a nice time at La Sagesse.

If you do plan this tell the people on the ship you have an excursion booked and they'll let you off quickly.

If you are trying to go on the cheap and want a little local color, take the bus to Grand Anse beach. You can see the bus station from your ship--to the left, looks like a 2 story parking garage. You go left once you leave the cruise building and walk for about 3 blocks. The buses are actually vans and have the destination at the top of the windshield. When we were there a year ago it was $1 which was 2 or 2.5 local currency so be sure to ask in dollars. You need to tell them you want off at Grand Anse as the bus goes off to the left a couple of blocks from the beach. You look for the return bus around the same place, just make sure you are waiting on the correct side of the street.
