7 a.m. in San Juan

I love to spend at least an hour in the morning having cafe con leche, a ham and cheese mallorca, and fresh squeezed orange juice at La Bombonera about a 10 minute walk from the dock.

Even if the ship arrives at 7 A.M., it isn't likely you'll be off immediately.

Takes time for the ship to clear and for those in a hurry to rush down the gangway ahead of you.

I'll second this. We were there in mid April this year. The Exploer of the Seas was already docked and people getting off when we arrived. We were off the ship around 8AM. Did head for La Bombonera--good pastries, ham mallorca reminiscent of those vending machine sandwiches you get in London. Saw a sign that Cafe Mallorca was open, workers adjusting the awning. Cafe Cultura is further up the street along the Plaza Colon. By the time you walk around, have a mallorca or pastry and coffee, and head for one of the forts, places will be open.
