Another Valor Review - 6/12-6/19

Here's a quick review of our week on the Valor. It's interesting how people on the same ship can have varying opinions...but that's what makes the world go round!

Getting on and off the ship was a nightmare! People are getting on and off at the same time and it creates a HUGE traffic jam! Stood in line for about an hour to embark which in the scheme of things wasn't too bad. We got in line to disembark at 9:30 and finally got into our limo that was parked right outside the terminal at 11:30!! The line to go through customs kept winding and winding and winding. Finally when we got to the customs table, there were only 5 customs officials working. With 2 ships in port at the same time, you would think that they would have more people available and a better way to manage traffic flow!

Other than the beginning and the end, the cruise was wonderful. We thought the food was great, enjoyed the sushi, pizza and burgers. Our servers, Sylwester and Manuela were a great team and we had lots of fun with them. Shows we saw were first rate and comedian Jim Brick was a riot. Piano bar was fun, but only the first two nights...after that we kept hearing the same songs over and over. Spent lots of time in the casino and dealers were great! Broke even but had fun doing it!

Goff;s Caye excursion was great...went to a small "Gilligan" type island and snorkeled off the boat for about an hour and then had beach time. Water was warm and clear and saw lots of beautiful coral. In Roatan, we visited the "Other" orphanage. When we met our driver and told him we had things for the CSI orphange, he mentioned that there was another orphange on the island that needed lots of things so we decided to go there. It was an amazing experience. Our teenagers played with the kids for about an hour and they were so appreciative of our donations and just the time we spent with them. THis is a memory that will stay with us for a long time! The rest of the day was spent on the beach at the Mayan Princess....this has got to rank up there with the most beautiful beaches in the world...much better than anything in Grand Caymen.

Cozumel day was spent in Carlos and Charlies...need I say more?

Overall, this was one of the best cruises we have taken. The Valor is a beautiful ship and the crew was great! We are already thinking about sailing on it again next summer on the eastern route!

I'd be glad to answer any questions!

Beth, we did the slef-assist debarkation and it was a breeze. Got in line at 7:15, off at 7:30, in a limo by 8:15, FLL at 9.

We did look for you the last night to say good bye to our drinking buddies but didn't see you! We had a great time with you and your family and the rest of the Cruise Critic crowd! Never did get to see your hats, Sharon!
