just starting atlantis research, saw it from afar many years ago.

If we don't do waterslides, casino, .....

what I would like to do is to #1 aquarium and stroll around a bit

then want to go spend time elsewhere

how much is day pass and how long could I theoretically swim a bit, stroll a bit, and total aquarium

About how much time? & $$$

Thanks! Realize no exact science but aquarium amount of time and cost for pass are high priority

THANKS!!!!!! :)

look at the excursions from NCL on your ship sailing and you can book through them for that exact thing. I saw for mine they have one for the Aquariums only and another for a much Larger price for the pools, digs, aquariums etc...

For a very minimal fee, you can take a water taxi from right near the cruise terminal to Paradise Island where Atlantis is. A short walk from the water taxi dock will take you through the bayside 'village'. (Shops and such) to the main entrance of Atlantis. You can stroll through the casino without having to pay and that's about it.

I've been told they are charging a day fee for looking at the aquarium in the lobby which is a complete rip-off. We managed to walk to it for free a couple of years ago and I wasn't really impressed. (I suppose because we have a world class aquarium in Chicago I'm a bit jaded). ;)

Sorry to say you can't do much for free at Atlantis anymore. they don't even let you wander the Lobby''s.. Security "escorts" you to the casino area when you enter.

You can't even look outside at the grounds anymore.. let alone stroll around.

I must agree.

We are not pool and water slide people who when we were in Nassau with NCL last Thursday we wanted to at least see Atlantis as Nassau itself bores me to tears. Unless you are looking to buy jewelry... no idea why so many ships port there.

Anyway, for $4 we got a taxi to Atlantis. We did try the casino and found the worst odds ever on the slots. Really I have played tight slots before and these suckers NEVER let you get a penny ahead. Atlantis might as well have just installed a vacuum to suck the money from my wallet.. that is how fast I lost anything I bet. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, a lesson I learned too late.

We then decided to see the aquarium as I had read good things about it. The charge was $39 per person and I have to say I have seen better ones almost anywhere. What's worse, once you exit the dig with your red arm band (the color for those only going to the aquarium) you have no idea what you are allowed to view and not. You're left standing there in front of a bunch of pools, a restaurant, some bridges, etc.

We overheard a guide tell another lost visitor that there was another aquarium under a dome in the distance. Not a single sign pointing to it so we wandered and found it under a restaurant... not impressed.

We then wandered around outside taking some photos. Didn't try to enter the beach. I expected security to pounce but saw others with red wrist bands doing the same so we kept walking. Not much to see. We then went back inside and heard security stopping an elderly couple who had stepped outside the casino and asked for their room key. When they revealed they were not guests they were rudely told to get back inside the casino!

So basically if you are not there to pay $$ for a day pass to the water slides and pools, you get to gamble and eat at one of their high priced restaurants ($17 for a hamburger) and then leave.

We returned to our ship via taxi wondering why someone would go to Atlantis unless you were crazy about water parks. . We felt the aquarium was not worth half the charge, sadly.

Anyway... I can say we saw it. Check that off my list. I saw Nassau 12 years ago as a port of call and was unimpressed. Saw it again last week and while a bunch of improvements have been made downtown.. we were off and back on the ship in under 3 hours.

Thanks Guys! The only other aquarium I've seen was in Omaha and it was pretty cool --- I googled Images of Atlantis aquarium and it looked great - except you can't see how big it is -- but $40??????

We might just do the snorkel beach thing somewhere -- and get back on the boat early --- never been back on the boat early -- but this is one port where I'm sure we won't be alone!

We walked through the "Dig's" after 7pm without paying as there wasnt any security at the entrance then walked around the grounds at night when our ship over-nighted. The price is way too high; the casino is very tight and food/drinks are off the charts. Be prepared to drop some serious coin at Atlantis.
